Main objective:
Working under the direction of the Medical Coordinator, the pharmacist will be responsible for MdM’s compliance with national regulations on pharmacy and drug management.
The pharmacist will also be responsible for the drug management of MdM primary healthcare program. The pharmacist will serve as capacity builder to train staff responsible for pharmacy management in MdM supported healthcare centers.
Main responsibilities
The Pharmacist is responsible for:
MdM’s compliance with national regulations on pharmacy and drug management
Assisting with drug procurement when expertise needed and required
Stock management of MdM pharmacy
Provision of drugs, supplies or equipment to MdM supported healthcare centers
Support to the person in charge of the pharmacy management in MdM supported healthcare centers
Main responsibilities and activities of the Pharmacist can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.
Main activities
1. Compliance with national regulation
ü Ensure that MdM respect the national regulations (from the Ministry of Public Health and/or the Order of Pharmacists) in terms of drug procurement, storage, donation, transportation, tracking and disposal when needed.
2. Drug procurement
ü Participate in the procurement process when a technical expertise is needed
ü Receive purchased drugs, check quantity & quality with the support of the Logistics
ü Alert the Logistics in case of discrepancies between order and delivery, for further action
ü Follow up of suppliers chosen to update the database
3. Pharmacy management
ü Follow up and manage the medical stock with specific tools (Sagastock): register and update any data management
ü Keep pharmacy records and report any movement on stock cards (regular checks will be performed by the Logistics)
ü Monthly Sagastock backups sent to the Medical Coordinator, the Logistics and the headquarters
ü Perform a regular medical inventory (physical counts) supervised by the Logistics
ü Inform the Medical Coordinator of the items to be ordered and when to order them
ü Keep an updated list of drugs soon to be expired and alert the Medical Coordinator as to the dates of expiration
ü Ensure that the pharmacy refrigerator is functioning properly, and alert the Logistics when needed, to take action
ü Ensure an adequate stock management according to MdM and international standards: items well organised, correctly stored (temp. and humidity follow-up), well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, safety, security, access, etc.)

Requested competences/skills/profile
Degree in Pharmacy
Experience in warehouse management
Knowledge and experience in documentation of Pharmacy relevant issues
Knowledge in health/medicine useful
Experience working with NGOs is preferred
Professional proficiency in Arabic and English is mandatory
Good communication skills (oral and written)
Good computer skills
Ability to travel frequently during working hours to pay field visits
Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently
Autonomy, motivation, punctuality, flexibility, honesty and calm
Ability to carry reasonable weights
Ability to work alone in the warehouse

4. Drug orders and deliveries
ü Receive and review drug orders/requests from MdM supported healthcare centers, in collaboration with the Medical Coordinator
ü Prepare drug orders for MdM supported healthcare centers, with the support of the Logistics
ü Fill out donation certificates / way bills for drug deliveries
ü Ensure the drug deliveries to MdM supported healthcare centers and check the quantity received with their pharmacy responsible
ü Perform a weekly monitoring and monthly analysis of the drug consumption, according to morbidity charts
ü Verify the rationality of the medical requests from MdM supported healthcare centers (compare the order with the consumption and stock remaining) and alert the Medical Coordinator
5. Capacity building of MdM partners
ü Train or reinforce the capacities of the person in charge of the pharmacy management in MdM supported healthcare centers on:
Documenting consumption
Monthly inventory
Producing adequate monthly drug order
Tools to be implemented
Medication dispensary
Setting up and keeping adequate pharmacy storage
Using computerized system for the abovementioned tasks
