AMIDEAST has vacancies for an Editor/Writer to work full-time for 1.5 months on a short-term project.   Project Description: AMIDEAST is developing for the Middle East Bureau and the USAID Lebanon Mission profiles of scholars who have received USAID-supported scholarships as part of the University Scholarship Program (USP).  This project will build a library of “stories” about who USP scholars are, what they are doing today, how they got there, and how USP has contributed to their success.  The scholar profiles and stories will be used for outreach and publication to show case the scholars’ successes.  The profiles should be effective, impactful, and inspirational. Position Description: The Editor/Writer will work with the team leader in developing one page profiles and social media posts for more than 50 USP scholars. Specific responsibilities that Editor/Writer will be responsible for include, but are not limited to: Conducting interviews and writing profiles, as needed Editing scholars’ profiles Developing content for social media Supporting Team Leader on all other task activities Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Communication Arts, Journalism, English Language, Education, Social Sciences, or other relevant field required Demonstrated skills and experience in writing and editing English journalistic pieces Experience in social media communication Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management and communication skills Excellent computer skills (MS Office, internet research, etc.) Ability to multi-task with high attention to details Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision Fluency in English required Lebanese citizen Availability to start work immediately Resumes and cover letters should be sent with “USP Editor or Writer” in the subject line.
