RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Inclusion Advocate will work to achieve the objectives of the program. The Advocate must be a person with disability.
Objective 1: Identify and analyze barriers to inclusion to serve as foundations for decisions about which inclusion activities to undertake
Activities/Main duties:
• Gather information needed to analyze barriers to inclusion, barriers affecting beneficiaries of HI programs, beneficiaries of our partner organizations, and beneficiaries of organizations requesting inclusion support. Beneficiaries can be PWD of all ages, people with injuries, people with chronic diseases, and older people
• Analyze barriers to inclusion based on existing guidelines and toolkits
• Plan organize and deliver awareness raising workshops and targeted trainings
Objective 2: Plan, organize, deliver and follow-up with attendees of targeted trainings on specific inclusion issues
Objective 3: Initiate, involve other stakeholders, accompany other stakeholders to develop and implement advocacy strategies and action plans to work toward reduction or elimination of specific barriers to inclusion of PWD and other vulnerable persons. HI calls this process “coaching.”
Objective 4: Advocating for specific policy and institutional changes (according to analyses of specific barriers to specific instances and pattern of exclusion) to lead to inclusion of people with disabilities, injuries, and other vulnerabilities
Objective 5: Document all processes and results of the work for purposes of contributing to donor reports, for informing program planning and evolution of the strategies, and for contributing to the evolution of HI’s portfolio of lessons learned to be shared with other missions

QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENTS
Background : Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not mandatory. High school diploma required
Experiences:
• Experience in disability advocacy preferred
• Experience developing and delivering training based on adult learning principles
• Experience with NGOS or UN agencies preferred
Personal qualities & soft skills: Person will have a disability and will be willing to speak about, and use his or her disability as part of his or her work in this position to raise awareness, train, coach and advocate for changes that reduce or eliminate barriers to inclusion that people with disabilities, people with injuries, and people with other vulnerabilities (chronic illness, and older age) face
