ROLE PURPOSE: As a member of the Child Protection team, the Child Protection will be responsible for implementing the child protection programme under the supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator. The Child Protection Officer will work towards ensuring that all programme implementation in the assigned program location is carried out and that monitoring processes are in place, that timely reporting occurs.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Officer will play a critical role in supervising 3 to 6 CP Assistants working in T5 within a larger child protection team and more specifically:
Supervise and manage the performance of Child Protection Assistants involved in the program and working with children, adolescents, youth and caregivers to deliver psychosocial wellbeing and case management.
Ensure a smooth exchange between the Save the Children child protection team, beneficiaries and the community and providing technical support as needed.
Coordinate with partners, community structures and Save the Children staff to support program implementation.
Deliver training to staff and animators, as well as other local and international organizations and representatives of the local institutions.
Ensure quality and minimum child protection standards are implemented and respected in all activities, including child safeguarding policy.
Ensure that procurement plans are up to date and materials are ordered and delivered to the staff working in specific locations and in a timely manner.
Create and update of activity plans per activity/programme site and communicate the targets, programme objectives and activity plans clearly to children, adolescents, youth and the community at large ensuring they are well understood amongst the assistants and animators.
Establishing and maintaining a monthly work and weekly plan which will include weekly monitoring visits to all locations where activities are implemented.
Liaise on a daily basis with the community and Save the Children supervisors and colleagues to guarantee the smooth operation of the programmes.
Liaise with local institutions, such as SDCs and municipalities to ensure systems building at the regional level.
Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the communities of implementation and their families in the community.
Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality.
Work closely with the all teams, with particular focus on education and FSL team to ensure program integration.
Any other related activities as per request of the Child Protection Officer, Coordinator and/or Child Protection Programme Manager.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation activities of the programme.
Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities in each location, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learnt.
Ensure that data is accurately collected on a weekly and monthly basis.
Ensure accurate data entry when necessary.
Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
In agreement with your line manager, perform other duties within reason (in line with your skills and experience).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At least three years’ experience in working with children and community mobilisation, preferably in an (I) NGO environment.
Bachelor’s degree Social Work or related sciences, Development/Humanitarian Studies.
Experience in managing people and working in a team.
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Facilitation and coaching skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Good computer skills.
Understanding of national development issues, in particular in relation to adolescent and youth.
Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to plan strategically.
Strength in interpersonal and communication skills.
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English and/or French.
Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours and capability to work in an insecure and volatile environment.
Ability to manage stress, be flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances
Ability to maintain consistent high standards of professional behaviour and achievement when working independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
