Junior Engineer - Urban Gardening (Lebanese Nationals Only)

Background ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon. ACTED has been implementing WASH and Shelter interventions in various areas of the country. **Please note: This is a local position. Only Lebanese citizens are eligible to apply.**   Functions  The Junior Engineer shall be responsible for:  Project Implementation    -       Monitor day-to-day implementation of the project through daily with focus on quality outcomes; -       Monitoring of site visit -       Provide engineering support during project construction and ensure the proper implementation of the planned designs by the consultant; -       Ensure correct and efficient use of resources;   Project Reporting -       Set up a clear work plan to be updated and submitted weekly to the PC; -       Submit a daily report on the work constructed; -       Ensure adherence to FLAT procedures. -       Participate in documenting lessons learned and best practices during the project   Coordination and external representation -       Coordinate with the local community and stakeholders; -       Work closely with the consultant to ensure the proper implementation of the designs.   o   Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries The Junior Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all relations with the communities we work are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner.  Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED programme objectives, activities, beneficiary selection criteria, and methodologies.  This is the responsibility of every ACTED staff member.   Knowledge, skills -       University degree in Civil Engineering, Landscaping or a closely related field; -       1-3 years of field experience in similar position focusing on urban gardening and/or engineering with an INGO/UN agency; -       Knowledge of and experience with donor practices and requirements, the project cycle process, and humanitarian or development program solicitations and applications;; -       Strong leadership and facilitation skills; -       Sound understanding of urban gardening and cost estimates of relevant BoQs; -       Fluent in Arabic, with excellent written and verbal English skills and the ability to work in an international context;  -       Excellent interpersonal skills and external relations; -       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; -       Independent, adaptable, flexible and hardworking;  -       Strong humanitarian motivation and understanding of international assistance. -       Proven experience in dealing with local stakeholders; -       Previous experience working with a variety of stakeholders in humanitarian or development aid.
