VACANCY NUMBER: FVAC16.013   Job Title: National Consultant Minimum number of years of relevant experience required: Advanced University Degree in plant protection preferably in plant pathology; At least five year experience in pest management and phytosanitary regulations; Field experience in olive pest management; preferably with knowledge/ previous working experience in Xylella fastidiosa management; Knowledge or experience in field project implementation is preferred. Good working language English, Arabic and French for North Africa countries are required. Expected Start of Assignment: At the inception period of the project  Duration: 60 days on WAE basis during the whole period of the project Location: Lebanon Reports to: Maurice Saade – FAO Representative in Lebanon Shoki Al-Dobai - Regional Crop Protection Officer - FAO-RNE   Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved (per mission if applicable) Under the overall supervision of the project budget holder, the technical supervision of the Regional Plant Protection Officer, LTO of the project; and in close collaboration with other regional and international consultants, NPCs and NCs, the consultant will undertake the following duties:   Participate the regional project workshops, Assist in evaluation of the current situation, providing baseline data on X. fastidiosa and its prevention measures applied in the country, and developing a detailed annul work plan for the field activities,  Lead the training and awareness raising sessions for the plant protection technicians, olive growers and other stakeholders in the country, Contribute to the development of contingency and surveillance action plans of X. fastidiosa in the country, Contribute to and lead the implementation of project field activities related to survey, control and eradication operations, Provide the technical advice and guidance on X. fastidiosa monitoring, prevention and management to the stakeholders, Prepare training and awareness raising materials on X. fastidiosa monitoring, prevention and management, and make sure that all training materials are available during the sessions, Lead the surveillance activities in the country; Prepare technical reports of the activities, end of mission reports, and final country report at the end of the project as required Perform other related duties as required. Key performance indicators Expected Outputs (per mission if applicable): Required Completion Date: Country workplan is implemented as planned. Awareness raising and training material prepared. Training and awareness raising programme implemented as planned. Contingency and surveillance plans are developed and the implementation is initiated by the national counterparts. Progress reports and final country reports are prepared and submitted to FAO in due dates. End of the project
