Expert Editor/writer – Hrc006 – Service Contractor - Beirut

Terms of Reference The objective for short-term editor/writer is to assist the UNHCR Lebanon to capture and produce vulnerabilities reports in highest quality standards. This additional technical expertise will enable UNHCR programs to highlight vulnerabilities, documented the various changes in the environments of refugee’s families and communicated with external audiences the required assistance level, such as level to support socio-economic poor families with basic assistance. Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Representative for Operation at UNHCR Branch office Beirut and direct supervision of the Assistant Representative for Program, the editor/writer will be recruited for a total of 30 working days September to October 2016. This part time and flexible working time arrangements will respond to operation editing/writing skills demands and other tasks. It is foreseen that the incumbent will perform the following tasks: Discuss with UNICEF, WFP and UNHCR core group members staff how to produce, focus, review and editing the VASYR and VAIN reports. Produce and review the text for VASYR and VAION and prepare a consistency and professional writing format that is line with VaSyR/VAION framework that includes the editing and prepare for external report that is well structure, informative and easy to be understood.  Revise and assist that graphs and info graphic are supported to text and vis-versus.  Review, edit and re-write, if necessary, produce 2-4 pages executive summary for the VAION and VASYR reports  Write and edit the agreed content with a professional writing style  Revise and finalize the documentation following feedback from the UNICEF/WFP and UNHCR.  Review, edit and re-write, if necessary, 4-6 factsheets for the VAION and VASYR reports Expected results At the end of this consultancy, the following deliverables are expected:  VAOIN report  VASYR report  Executive summary  Fact-sheets for health, shelter, basic assistance,   Selection criteria: Candidates will be assessed against the following:  Extent and relevance of experience in the compilation and editing/writer high end reports and factsheets  Level of skills and reviewed of copies of compiled work  Extent of experience in the in development or humanitarian environment is desirable  Extent of experience in working effectively in multidisciplinary teams Definition of the final product: At the end of this individual contract, the following deliverables are expected to be provided: Executive summary; VAOIN report; VASYR report; Fact-sheets following the below schedule: i. Submission of Executive summary: 10 September 2016 ii. Submission of VASYR report: 15 September 2016 (1. Draft) iii. Submission of VAION report: 25 September (1. Draft) iv. Based on inputs submission of Final versions for VASYR: 25 September v. Based on inputs submission of Final versions for VASYR VAION: 10 October 2016 vi. Submission of Factsheets: 15 October (1.draft) vii. Final submission of factsheets: 25 October

At least five years of professional experience in journalism, or related communication field 
Excellent English language writing and editing 
Basic knowledge of photography, graphics and video is considered as an added advantage. 
