ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality “Enhance the Role of Youth in the Local Development within the Host Communities in North Lebanon” Project   Terms of Reference (TOR) Art Specialist Consultant   Position: Art Specialist Consultant Requirement: Conduct a total of 32 (3 hour) Art-Based Psycho-Social sessions (AB-PSS) in two villages in Akkar Project: Enhance the Role of Youth in the Local Development within the Host Communities in North Lebanon Time-Frame for this assignment: October - November 2016 Duration: 16 days Location: Akkar Type of consultancy: Art-Based Psycho-Social sessions     About the project The theory of change for this project component falls under the fact that the needs and aspiration of vulnerable young women and men go beyond meeting their immediate needs – they strive to be independent through acquiring skills and knowledge that would allow them to support their families and most importantly, meaningfully contribute to combat GBV including sexual violence in their communities. Therefore, building resilience and preparedness of young vulnerable women and men is imperative to constructively engage in different processes and structures, including social responsibility, human rights, gender equality, and non-violence.   Overall goal of this assignment Empowering vulnerable youth (men and women) in two villages in Akkar to become active agents of change in the local development of their communities through promoting non-violent attitudes and practices towards women & girls through using artistic mediums and expressive techniques. This will lead to an increase in Psycho-social related competencies, resilience and adopting positive coping strategies.   Duties and Responsibilities -          The Art specialist will be responsible for conducting 32 (3 hours) community/art  based PSS actions and artistic therapeutic activities in Akkar-Lebanon, targeting host and refugee boys and girls between 12 and 35 years old; -          The Art specialist is to submit a proposed methodology and roadmap of the AB-PSS while detailing the relevant tools, scripts, materials to be used during sessions to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population; -          Activities can be as follow: drawing, animation, theatre, dance, laughter Yoga, singing, graffiti, etc; -          The Art Based specialist is responsible of the procurement of tools and materials and logistical preparation and set up; -          The Art Based specialist is to provide progress reports after finalizing activities in each targeted area, and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures –in close coordination with the project team namely the project coordinator – through: Assessing the satisfaction of targeted young women and men using the satisfaction survey;   Facilitating complaint mechanism procedures through informing the targeted population of the complaint cycle procedures Assessing impact of the provided activities through using MEAL tools, such as pre-post-tests, evaluation forms, etc…   Skills required -          Previous experience in conducting Art based PSS activities for young women and men among this age group, while addressing sensitive issues through interactive actions; -          Previous experience in targeting vulnerable population in rural (high risk) villages; -          Willingness to work with adolescent girls and boys; -          Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities).   APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Interested consultants must submit, by July 18, 2016, a proposal demonstrating their suitability to undertake this assignment.
