Arabic - English Translator

IWPR is seeking an Arabic to English translator for work on its programming.    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Translating documents from Arabic into English and on occasion vice versa; (including but not limited to M&E forms, articles and blogs on Syria as well as digital security, site content) Researching technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation; Consulting with editorial staff for details as required; Liaising with staff editors to discuss any unclear points and fact-checking when necessary; Providing IWPR with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text, as a word-processed document; Using the internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process; Proofreading and editing final translated versions as required; Working closely with staff editors to ensure final published documents retain articles’ original meaning; Prioritising work to meet strict deadlines; Supplying subtitles for films and television programmes as required; Performing other translation tasks as may be required by IWPR from time to time Reporting to Programme Coordinator   REQUIREMENTS Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; Experience providing professional translation services (3 to 5 years) IT literacy and experience of using IT to edit journalistic content and research information; Ability to prioritise own workload; Ability to deliver targets to set deadlines   interested candidates can send their resumes, cover letter, and two samples of previous work (1 from Arabic to English, and 1 from English to Arabic including the original file) to menajobs@iwpr.net with “Arabic - English translator” in the email subject.
