ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality Combating GBV among Syrian Women Refugees Terms of Reference (TOR)   Public Health Expert with special focus on SRHR   Position: Public Health Expert with special focus on SRHR Requirements:Conducting 60 health information/awareness sessions for women and girls in 12 areas across Lebanon Project: Combating GBV among Syrian Women Refugees Time-Frame for this assignment: August 2016 - June 2017 Deliverables: 60 information sessions will be delivered in 12 regions during 11 months. Consultant will be delivering 5 sessions per location – most likely during the weekends (Thursdays through Saturdays). One visit is expected per month. Location: Akkar, North, Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Bekaa, South     About the project It has been observed through field assessments that Syrian women and girls are becoming more and more reluctant to leave their homes to access support and services. Hence, ABAAD in partnership with Diakonia with the support of RadioHjalpen designed a project intervention with emphasis on the provision of GBV related services through a mobile unit. These services includelegal and health awareness sessions, provision of Psycho Social Support (PSS) animation for children, educational activities, among others, within communities and thus reach out to the women and girls most in need within the areas they are located. This project is designed to continue to respond to the: -          Lack of awareness on the impact of GBV on the community, especially women and girls, -          Lack of awareness among affected communities on the necessity of intervention and the advantages of support for GBV survivors, -          Limited psychosocial services for GBV survivors, -          Lack of institutionalized response to address GBV in certain areas -          Lack of community engagement amongst Syrian refugees in development processes and lack of mobilization of men and boys to address GBV.   Overall goal of this assignment The overall goal of this assignment is to increase knowledge among refugee and host communities about their health rights and existing servicesand how to refer or self-refer to a service provider or to the nearest GBV structures, i.e. Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) available at the area. The proposed topics for the information/awareness sessions will be selected based on conducting a needs’ assessment in close coordination with the project coordinator and the targeted beneficiaries.   Duties and Responsibilities -          Consultant will be responsible for conducting 60awareness sessions in 12 villages in Lebanon, targeting host and refugee communities from all age categories; -          Consultant is to share with the project team the relevant tools, scripts, materials to be used during sessions to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population; -          Topics can be as follow:pregnancy, contraception, body image, sexual rights among others; -          Consultant is responsible for accommodation arrangement in the targeted areas, noting that transportation for the health expert/consultant will be arranged by the team during the mobile unit tours.   Skills required -          Previous experience in addressing sensitive and health related issues through awareness raising activities targeting women and girls. -          Previous experience in targeting vulnerable population in rural (high risk) villages. -          Previous experience in working with adolescents, mothers, and elderly; -          Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities).     Interested consultants must submit, by July 8, 2016, a proposal demonstrating their suitability to undertake this assignment.
