Communication And Advocacy Officer

JOB SUMMARY - PURPOSE The position is responsible for communication and advocacy activities of the humanitarian programme in Lebanon, in line with the Diakonia Country Strategy for Lebanon. The job involves tasks such as design of advocacy plan and campaigns, networking, liaising and lobbying with relevant stakeholders, ensuring communication requirements in line with Diakonia’s guidelines and standards.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A. Advocacy and Lobbying Develop an advocacy plan for the humanitarian programme  Launch an advocacy campaign among authorities, media and human right workers Promote and lobby different stakeholders on advocacy priorities, including Lebanese authorities, Lebanese human rights organizations, and media Develop advocacy materials such as policy briefs b. Communication and Networking Network with relevant partners to identify advocacy priorities for the humanitarian programme Provide capacity building through workshops to ISF and media stakeholders on priorities identified by humanitarian programme Provide direct support, mentoring and capacity building for implementing partners’ staff with regards to media and communication skills Maintain direct interaction with right holders to voice their concerns and problems Liaise with partners to organize the development of major communication products such as publications, brochures or films Produce information, communication material from Diakonia’s work in Lebanon, based on change makers stories in cooperation with the department for communication and fundraising at Diakonia’s Head Office in Stockholm Lead and support media visits to Lebanon, especially foreign media covering Diakonia work.  Maintain/ create  Diakonia Lebanon social media platforms.

Degree in media, international relations, international law, human rights, international development, political science or other relevant field of study.
Post graduate diploma or courses in human rights communication. Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL) is considered an asset.
