Communications Assistant   Location Lebanon Field Office Type of Appointment Contractor Deadline for Application 29 June 2016 Vacancy Announcement Number 985/2016 Department/Division Office of the Director - Public Information Office    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A)   Assist in editing and proof reading documents, letters and communications materials in English and Arabic. (B)   Assist in all communications and public information related work as instructed by the Chief Communications and Public Information Officer including: liaising with and collecting relevant information from the various UNRWA-LFO departments, assist in producing communications products, monitoring the press and social media, preparing information packages, assist Area Communications officers in the field as required by the Chief Communications and PI Officer and assist in the organization of public events. (C)   Monitoring and implementing UNRWA branding guidelines on publications and communications products. (D)   Any other related task as instructed by the Chief Communications and Public Information Officer. (E)   Performs such other duties as may be assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional A university degree in Communication, Journalism or any other related field of studies from an accredited University.   (B)   Experience Minimum three years of experience.   (C)   Language        Fluency in Oral and written English and Arabic.   (D)   Skills and Competencies i)    Good Communication and drafting (English & Arabic) skills. ii)   Computer literate and working knowledge of In Design and Photoshop programs. iii)  Ability to work under pressure.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: Monthly salary (full package) USD $1500 Contract Duration: to the end of December 2016 (Extendable subject to availability of funds).   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   GENERAL INFORMATION UNRWA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications equally from men and women. Upon selection, a staff member may be offered the consultant/contractor contract upon resignation from fixed term appointments and a three month break-in-service.
