The Lebanon country office in Beirut has an Advocacy and Information department composed of an Advocacy and Information Adviser and a Media and Communications Officer. The following job description aims to create a Social Media Assistant position using the funding opportunity from Middle East Regional Office to support the Advocacy and Information department.
Job Purpose Summary
The Social Media Assistant will work closely with and under the supervision of the Media and Communications Officer. He/she will be expected to deliver according to clearly set-out objectives in order to fulfil strategic advocacy and programme goals.
NRC Lebanon expects the Social Media Assistant to be able to get a quick overview of NRC Lebanon’s advocacy and programmes and begin using the social media tool Scensei, analyse data, and boost NRC’s social media presence.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks and Responsibilities
Use and implement the Scensei social influence tool in order to identify influencers on Twitter in Lebanon that NRC can potentially use as ambassadors for its advocacy objectives
Implement – and on a daily basis maintain – a social media platform for NRC Lebanon on Twitter and Facebook, including through material collected during field visits.
Track and report back to the Media and Communications Officer the use and results of Scensei.
On a daily basis, scan Arabic and English-language social media for material relevant to refugee and humanitarian issues in Lebanon and share finding with the Media and Communications Officer and Advocacy and Information Adviser
Together with the Media and Communications Officer, develop a social media strategy for Twitter and Facebook and implement an action plan.
Regularly create content for NRC’s new Arabic social media platforms.
Conduct weekly meetings with the Media and Communications Officer to agree on advocacy aexternal visits to NRC field activities by donors and others through social media use.
Support the Media and Communications Officer with communication tasks (writing stories and posts, taking and organising photos).

Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, or journalism.
Relevant Experience
1 year of relevant experience in a similar position
Proven experience with communication within the humanitarian sector will be a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
Commitment to humanitarian principles and dedication to humanitarian work.
Flexibility including ability to work overtime on weekends and evenings according to needs and requests. This will include regular travel within Lebanon to field sites during the week.
Ability to work towards the fulfillment of objectives and deliverables as agreed with the supervisor. Clear deliverables within the probation period will be agreed.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask and deliver a high range of tasks, often within short deadlines.
A good team player.
Basic social media, photography, and video skills highly desirable.
Excellent English and Arabic, oral and written.
