Protection Manager (Lebanese National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualified Protection Manager to lead and inspire our protection team in the South.     Who are we?  The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assitance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   About the job  The Protection manager (PM) has the overall responsibility for for leading, coordinating and overseeing of DRC Protection activities in the South.    Duties and Responsibilities  The Protection Manager (PM) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the protection programming, staff management and donor compliance and contribute to the development of DRC programming in the South, including child protection, GBV and general protection.   • Support protection staff through the provision of capacity building, supervision and guidance. Ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in protection, GBV and Child protection.   • With the support of the Protection Coordinator and Programme Development and Grants Coordinator, prepare proposals to secure follow on or expansion funding for the protection program as per identified needs and in line with the Protection strategy.  • Monitor and strengthen DRC’s partnership with other actors (local implementing partners, SDC, Local CBOs).  • Co-chair the GBV Task Force in the south and actively participate in other relevant coordination forums.  • Oversee and ensure achievements of targets towards donors’ requirements through overall management of the protection programming (throuhg the use of indicators performance trackers).  • Ensure that all logistical and support arrangements are in place for successful daily operations  • Monitor budgets     About you  To be successful in this role you must have:  Required qualifications  • University degree or higher education relevant to human rights, law or other relevant fields  • Thorough understanding of best practices and strategies in protection programming (protection monitoring, GBV, Child protection)   • Significant knowledge of International Human Rights and Refugee Law  • Proven experience in community mobilization   Essential Experience  • At least 5 years of proven experience in implementation of protection programming; human rights and/or advocacy work  • Proven experience working in emergency settings  • Strong program/technical and budget management skills  • Ability to organise and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including trainings for colleagues and partners  • Familiarity with community-based protection programming and ability to incorporate lessons learned from similar experiences  • Experience in implementing projects through local partners and providing direct technical support to local organizations  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties  • Above average computer literacy (incl. Excel), and holder of a valid driver’s licence     We offer  DRC will offer the successful applicant a6 contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
