TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with IWPR Arabic and English language editors, field staff and the Lebanon based support staff to develop a comprehensive commissioning brief in line with project work plans and other deliverables;   Edit and proofread articles, interviews, manuals and other written materials; Take overall responsibility for Arabic language output on IWPR Syria social media accounts and actively promote project media outputs; Help manage IWPR Syria website and social media accounts; Assist in expanding the network of contributors to cover more areas of Syria and seek to ensure gender equality;  Actively promote and syndicate IWPR Syria content in local regional and international media and ensure correct attribution is provided for all IWPR-generated content;  Work with administrators to keep an up-to-date record of published content and to ensure project objectives are achieved within deadlines; Apply monitoring and evaluation procedures to measure and report on the progress achieved by the contributors; Conduct or assist in journalism and social media workshops as needed.   PERSON SPECIFICATION Experience Essential Editing and reporting in print or online journalism; Proofreading; Fact-checking and validating social media and written sources. Managing social media outlets; Designing and conducting media training, preferably in relation to Syria or other parts of the Middle East/ North Africa region; Desirable Developing and utilising content analysis tools to measure progress of reporters; Coordinating teams of journalists; Work in photojournalism or broadcast journalism; Managing online forums.   Knowledge/Skills Essential Native fluency in written and spoken Arabic; Working knowledge of English; Exceptional content and copyediting skills; Ability to provide professional mentoring in journalism; Ability to work towards objectives and deadlines; Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills; IT literacy and experience of using IT to edit journalistic content and research information; Professional work ethic; Ability to work as part of an editorial and administrative team. Desirable Networking skills; Effective responses to unpredictable work patterns.  Education Minimum bachelor's degree in journalism, media studies, humanities, social sciences or a related field, or the equivalent in training and experience.
