Logistics Assistant (Lebanese National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who has the skills to engage in our organization as a Logistics Assistant     Who are we  The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assitance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.    For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   About the job  The Logistics Assistant reports to the Logistics Manager and is responsible for supporting improvements in all logistical functions including fleet management, asset tracking, and communications. This includes assistance in providing technical support and planning support to future initiatives to increase the in-country logistics capacity. This requires a highly motivated and detail oriented individual who will be able to resolve operational critical challenges as they arise and propose innovative solutions to ongoing issues.    Duties  • Assist with the maintenance of the daily vehicle movement schedule and records and assigning of all mechanical transport as required and provide a daily movement schedule by the close of business the previous day.    • Ensure that all fleet nation wide has up to date paperwork and maintenance schedules, following up with rental companies to ensure compliance.   • Inspect DRC vehicles and ensure safety equipment is present in all vehicles including: spare tyre, first aid kits, emergency tool kit, emergency contact numbers, internal vehicle numbers, and DRC branding.   • Ensure that DRC Fleet Management standard operating procedures are enforced, in line with the DRC Lebanon vehicle policy.   • Liaise with Admin personnel to provide pick up and drop off support to incoming and outgoing staff and guests from arrival and departure points  • Ensure that all assets old and new are properly recorded and tagged. Keep the asset register, asset cards, and personal issue forms up to date with information of where each asset is/who it has been issued to. Send an updated asset register to the Logistics Officer on a weekly basis.   • Assist in the management and disposal of assets in accordance with DRC and donor guidelines   About you  To be successful in this role you must have:  • Experience working with administrative systems.  • High computer literacy level with expected proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF, and Internet.  • Experience with fleet or vehicle management.   • Used to working in busy, stressful environments.  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a must.   • Commitment to and understanding of DRC’s aims, values and principles   Ideally you will also have:  • Experience in working with tracking of assets or equivalent.  • Experience in customer services.   • Ability to speak other international languages.  • Relevant qualifications or training courses.      We offer  An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until 30th of September 2016, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from June 2016 and be willing and able to work in Beirut.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
