Protection Mainstreaming Officer (Lebanese National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate to ensure that Protection principles are incorporated throughout the project cycle management in all sectors: Housing and Infrastructure, CSMC, CEL and M&E. Ensure that programmes are accessible to vulnerable individuals such as children, women survivors of GBV and Persons with Specific Needs.    Who are we?  DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.  DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   Duties  • Ensure all sectors apply three basic protection mainstreaming principles: 1) Avoid exposing people to further harm as a result of the interventions (safety and dignity), 2) Ensure people’s access to impartial assistance in proportion to need and without discrimination (accessibility, non-discrimination, vulnerability), 3) Assist people to claim their rights, access available remedies and recover from the effects of abust (empowerment, accountability, participation)  • Develop protection risk analysis tools and train staff to use them  • Ensure internal (inter-sectors) and external referral of protection cases is functioning effectively  • Support sector teams in the roll-out of protection mainstreaming action plan and implementation of recommendations  • Provide technical support on protection to other sector teams through capacity building and sensitization training  • Roll-out an internal and external referral pathway linking each sector to the services provided under protection. Particularly case management  • Act as focal point between protection and other sectors in following-up on referrals to ensure they are working with a focus on CEL, Housing and Infrastructure and CSMC   About you  To be successful in this role you must have a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, political sciences, sociology or related fields; at least 3 years working in NGOs under the protection sector. Experience in child protection and GBV are a competitive advantage.  You must have analytical and communication skills, staff development, and to be result-oriented and accountable.   Ideally you will also have a Master’s degree in protection mainstreaming in humanitarian sectors and 4 years of experience in INGOs in protection mainstreaming We offer  An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 5 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from May 2016 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level C1, equivalent to 1,650$ per month.    Commitments  DRC has a Humanitarian Accountability Framework, outlining its global accountability commitments.
