Biological Reference Sample (Brs) Coordinator

Biological Reference Sample (BRS) Coordinator ICRC forensic activities in Lebanon provide support to the authorities to build capacity for a humanitarian management of the dead, and toward clarifying the fate of missing persons from the Civil War. Several on-going projects focus on the data collection and treatment related to missing persons, and training to the stakeholders involved in forensic operations in the country. This position involves the following tasks : Responsibilities and tasks: Ÿ Works under the direct supervision of the Forensic Advisor and in close collaboration with the Protection Coordinator, Missing Delegate and AMPM Database Manager Ÿ Contributes to the general knowledge of the Delegation about the issue of missing persons, humanitarian consequences and needs of missing persons’ families. Ÿ Participates in the analysis of missing program files and contributes to institutional reporting Ÿ Participates in the delegation's objectives and strategies aimed at determining the fate and whereabouts of the missing, and more specifically focusing on Ante Mortem Data Collection and the Biological Reference Sample (BRS) Collection projects Ÿ Under the supervision of the Forensic Advisor, the BRS coordinator will coordinate all steps and processes related to the standardized collection and appropriate storage of BRS samples and associated documentation Ÿ Is required to assist with AMPM Database entry and validations as and when deemed necessary to meet missing program priorities Ÿ In consultation with the Forensic Advisor, is responsible for monitoring information/documentation flow and is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to counter shortcomings and improve performance Minimum required knowledge & experience: Ÿ Higher Education (University or Institute) Ÿ Knowledge of forensic identification disciplines, particularly the application of DNA in identification efforts, is an asset but is not mandatory Ÿ Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic Ÿ Excellent computer literacy, knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel) is mandatory Ÿ Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Ÿ Capacity to work on multiple assignments but appropriately prioritizing tasks Ÿ Ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders and missing persons’ families Ÿ Good conflict resolution skills Ÿ Clear understanding of the political, social and cultural assigned environment Ÿ Self-driven and motivated Ÿ Must be willing to work in a high case throughput environment Ÿ Comfortable working independently and in a team environment Ÿ Competency to enter large volumes of data with a high degree of accuracy and low error rates
