AMIDEAST/Lebanon is recruiting an Educational Adviser for the EducationUSA Center
to lead the EducationUSA grant activities in line with the grant agreement and budget in order to help students and professionals in Lebanon access U.S. university opportunities.
EducationUSA in Lebanon is administered by AMIDEAST under a grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to promote higher education and study opportunities in the United States.
Position Description
The Educational Adviser would be responsible for promoting study in the USA at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels successfully by effectively planning and delivering promotional activities, educational workshops and direct counseling services to reach and serve as many students, professionals and organizations in Lebanon as possible.
The Educational Adviser will handle various responsibilities and duties, which include:
Academic responsibilities:
Guide students at different educational levels in applying to U.S. universities for admissions, scholarships, and financial aid
Plan and conduct group advising and specialized workshops on U.S. education in the office and at outreach workshops nationwide at schools, universities, and other locations
Provide individual advising to students on their specific fields of study, college research, and application processes
Coordinate speakers, produce materials, update presentation information, and promote the annual pre-departure orientations that are held for students preparing to travel to the U.S.
Programmatic responsibilities:
Coordinate two EducationUSA activities: Competitive College Club and Opportunity Funds
Provide EducationUSA expertise to support students participating in other U.S. scholarship programs, including Hope Fund and Diana Kamal Scholarship Search Fund
Recruit and nominate eligible students for Opportunity Funds, assist all approved students in the U.S. university applications process, and manage funds in accordance with program requirements and in coordination with the Regional Educational Advising Coordinator
Outreach responsibilities:
Act as a liaison with different stakeholders to promote studying in the U.S. : visiting scholars and U.S. university representatives, local schools and universities, ministry officials, EducationUSA network, U.S. State Department officials, and AMIDEAST headquarters personnel
Plan and conduct outreach workshops at public and private high schools to promote U.S. higher education, Opportunity Funds and the Competitive College Club
Represent the EducationUSA network and AMIDEAST at fairs, workshops, and conferences
Develop and implement annual EducationUSA marketing plan, including maintaining the different EducationUSA social media tools, to increase the number of students served
Administrative responsibilities:
Coordinate with U.S. university representatives and local schools to help representatives recruit students from Lebanon and assist visitors with setting appointments at local high schools
Prepare monthly statistical, financial, and narrative reports
Supervise and monitor the maintenance of EducationUSA advising resources
Supervise the work of the EducationUSA program assistant
Plan and/or support events conducted for the annual International Education Week
Manage an effective EducationUSA Lebanon student alumni community
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business or other relevant field; Master’s degree preferred
Degree from a U.S. university preferred
At least 3 years of work experience
Experience in managing programs and supervising staff preferred
Experience in both Lebanese and U.S. education and exchange activities preferred
Knowledge of the U.S. higher education system
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent computer skills including MS Office; high proficiency in Excel is required
Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
Availability to travel domestically and internationally
Willingness to accommodate work schedule to students’ school schedules including working on weekends
Lebanese citizenship
Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
Available to start work immediately
