General Description
International Relief and Development (IRD) is an international charitable, non-for-profit, non-governmental organization that collaborates with local and international partners to design and implement humanitarian relief and development aid programs. IRD’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. IRD was founded in 1998 and has grown over the past decade into an organization that is operating in many countries across the world.
IRD has been present in Lebanon since 2006, and the first activities included assistance to poor rural households in southern Lebanon adversely affected by the July War. Currently, IRD implements projects in Lebanon within the context of Syrian crisis supporting civil society organizations, Syrian and Iraqi refugees, and Lebanese host communities.
Specific Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Program Support Officer is responsible for overall programmatic support with a particular focus on capacity building and networking components; the specific duties include:
Provide technical and logistical support in preparing and implementing capacity building and networking events; this includes drafting agendas and other event materials, liaising with service providers, translating relevant documents (English/Arabic), and preparing subsequent activity reports
Conduct relevant research and assessments to address civil society issues specific to a particular region and/or a specific group of CSOs
Maintain daily communication with other program staff to coordinate activities and exchange information
Collect and organize data from program staff and draft them into quarterly donor reports; draft other reports and briefs as required
Provide support in assessing constantly changing political and security conditions in dynamic areas of implementation
Ensure effective implementation of the assigned work plan components throughout the life of the program, and ensure that the program objectives and indicators are carried out according to the approved program documents
Schedule meetings and develop meeting agendas for IRD staff and consultants and prepare meeting minutes and/or reports as needed
Support in IRD program development efforts, identifying new funding opportunities and areas of project support
Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator and/or Program Manager
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university (political science, international development, social affairs, business administration or similar field of study)
Minimum 3 years of experience with International NGOs
Experience working on civil society and development projects is highly desirable
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment
Very organized with attention to detail and follow-up
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic, both written and spoken. Ability to edit text into concise language appropriate for reports and presentations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
