Who are we
The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assistance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.

About the job
The aim of this position is to support the PSS assistants during their PSS activities with children.
Duties
• Define psychosocial activities to be implemented according to the children’s ages and situation and contribute to the development of a child friendly space curriculum;
• Promote, ensure and establish the child as a central actor in the activities;
Prepare and implement recreational activities for targeted children (large events or small groups);
• Create a positive and trustful atmosphere while interacting with children encouraging them to express their needs and ensuring their feeling of safety;
• Understand children as the main actors in their own development and encourage them in decision making of matters that affects them; Listen to whatever children would like to say, help them express their feelings and needs and respond to it positively;
• Report any observed problem of a child to the PSS assistant for necessary support or referral to other supportive network; Reports to the PSS assistant and supervisors as soon as she/he suspect or observe or informed a child or children are at risk of abuse or being mistreated;
• Accomplish individual and collective assignments given by her/his supervisors, such as the daily report;
Accomplish her/his duty of care protecting children from any form of maltreatment/abuse;
• Assist in the coordination of Child Protection & GBV awareness raising events;
Ensures activities are appropriate for the physical and mental capacity of children
• Organize joint events with children from the host communities for community harmonization with the coordination with the PSS Assistant;
About you
To be successful in this role you must have Ability to work with refugees in underprivileged settings;Experience in humanitarian work preferably in emergencies; Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills especially with children; Strong experience in providing recreational activities to children (drama, play, games, circus, sport, storytelling, drawing/painting, artistic activities, music, dancing)
Ideally you will also have Social work experience, Scouts experience, Youth clubs experience, Computer skills, Stress Management skills.
We offer
An interesting volunteering position in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from April 2016 and be willing and able to work in Bekaa.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Volunteering for National staff. This position will be placed at levelvolunteer, equivalent to USD 450 per month.
