Psychosocial Supervisor

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is an apolitical neutral organization whose objective is to provide immediate and long-term support to vulnerable population affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts and other types of crisis. SIF has been present in Lebanon since 2012, implementing projects through National partner aiming at distributing assistance to the Syrian refugee populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon. This program allowed SIF contributing to the improvement of the well-being of the children and their families In response to the current crisis in Syria, and the growing numbers of refugees coming to Lebanon, SIF is expending its humanitarian response and will scale-up its emergency support to Syrian refugees and affected population. In view of operation’S scale up, SIF is currently recruiting a psychologist to begin immediately. Thepsychologist will be basedin Beirut, but will operatemainly in Mount Lebanon with possible missions all over Lebanon. Furthermore, the psychologist will be in contact with other SIF members to harmonize and share tools as well as lessons learnt. Thepsychologist is part of the Syrian Refugee Support Program team of SIF-Lebanon and will be under the line management of the Project Manager and in contact with the Program coordinator.   MISSION CONTEXT The SIF project aims at strengthening the identification of vulnerabilities, their assessment and adequate referrals to existing services. The Psychologist jointly with the Social Workers, ensure the identification of most vulnerable beneficiaries in need of psychosocial support. The identification can be in the child friendly space for recreational activities, during the household visits as well as during the training or other SIF activities.Strong coordination with other actors in the area of intervention is the pillar of this program and the referral mechanism will guarantee the provision of adequate services from others partners.The action aims at strengthening awareness and advocacy efforts towards increased access of most the vulnerable (mainly children and women alone) within humanitarian actors’ coverage in the areas of intervention. Furthermore, as part of a longer term strategy aiming at supporting and reinforcing resilience of local stakeholders, the action includes a strong capacity building & strengthening component targeting SDC and local stakeholders on protection, child protection, referral pathway and mechanism, conflict resolution etc.   GLOBAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION Under the line management of the Project Manager, the psychologist is responsible for identify, refer and follow up of the psychosocial support provided to vulnerable children and families affected by the Syrian crisis. •           To ensure the quality of the assessment, the analysis and the reporting of psychological and psychosocial issues in the refugee population, in support to the social workers. •           To answer to the identified needs, by providing direct psychological and psychosocial support and refer internally and externally as needed, respecting confidentiality and the rights of the beneficiary. •           Follow up the provision of psychosocial support granted by others organizations (adapted and appropriate referral to each one’s specific needs and capacities). •           To produce regular reports on activities, assessments, follow-up and other related documents to ensure the quality and reporting of the project andparticipate to the capitalization of the project. Ensuring the monthly report (SITREP) to your line manager; •           Participate and contribute to the analysis and reporting of global issues in the refugee population, with a focus on psychosocial and psychological issues. •           Ensuring the psychosocial technical support to SIF staffs if needed. •           Ensuring SIF representation and coordination when requested in the working groups and other meetings gathering relevant stakeholders;   WORK RELATIONSHIPS Line manager+1 program coordinator and technical advisor In direct cooperation with: Social Workers, Data base, referral focal point   RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES Activities/Main duties: -           Ensuring a regular supervision of the Child friendly spaces and household visits through field visits, and files/database follow-up. -           Ensuring regular trainings to the SW staffs according to the needs identified by the project; -           Ensuring a regular evaluation of the technical tools and documents used at field level; -           Ensuring the validation and the control of the quality of the psychosocial items purchased in close coordination with the logistic departments and your line manager; -           Collaborating in elaboration of any technical tools or documents;Proposing change, updates and/or implementation of relevant technical tools according to the needs. -           Participating to the recruitment of field psychosocial staff through the elaboration of technical tests; -           Participating to project meetings upon request; -           Proposing change, updates and improvements of relevant psychosocial activities according to SIF strategy;   QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENTS   Background:          MA Degree in Clinical Psychology;          At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of vulnerability;          At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of Psychology;          At least 1 previous experience in training/capacity building and coaching;          At least 1 previous experience in humanitarian context, preferably in emergency response.          Project management skills would be an asset.   Languages: Fluent in English and Arabic mandatory (oral and written); Driving license mandatory Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications;   ETHIC AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE •           Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality •           Respect and promote SIF’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of SIF’s policies amongst the teams or partners. •           Address needs and requests in a professional way. •           Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others. •           Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers •           Always respect a refusal of treatment.   PERSONAL QUALITIES •           Flexibility,dynamism, high level of motivation;  •           Humanitarian motivation,capacity to work under high pressure •           Honesty and responsibility •           Willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions, capacity building activities… •           Participation to different activities that are common to all team members. •           Ability to respect each team member’s positions, work, and specialty. •           Ability to adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor (reporting, etc).
