UNHCR Project CoordinatorBased in BeirutSearch for Common Ground (SFCG) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way societies deal with conflicts. We have acquired over 30 years of experience in peacebuilding and are based in 53 local offices worldwide. SFCG first worked in Lebanon in 1996, and we opened up our office here in 2008. The issues we address are multiple, such as conflicts arising within Lebanon's diverse society, tensions resulting from the increasing influx of Syrian refugees, security sector reform, as well as women’s socio-economic empowerment. In each project we seek to engage all stakeholders and strengthen local capacities in order to create sustainable change and increase social cohesion. Summary of PositionThe project coordinator will be responsible for managing the implementation of a 9-month project which aims to create a space for dialogue around conflict issues and strengthening community stakeholders’ capacities to collaborate with one another in addressing conflicts arising from the Syrian refugee crisis in the governorate of Nabatieh. S/he will work closely with local authorities, and local and international humanitarian assistance providers as well as community stakeholders. The project coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations and implement the project’s activities, ensuring that the program is on-time, within budget, and delivers high-quality results. This includes providing a regular presence with stakeholders and networking contacts with local government, international and local agencies as well as community stakeholders. The project coordinator will be responsible for managing SFCG staff and resources devoted to this project in conformity with Lebanese law and SFCG’s internal operating practices. S/he will also collaborate closely with the Beirut office, the MENA team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the project to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner.Responsibilities• Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with the partner organization, other NGOs, donors, politicians, key government officials, civil society groups, religious groups, media outlets within the governorate of Nabatieh, etc;• Implement project activities in a timely manner ensuring good quality action and credible outcomes;• Implement the financial and administrative systems necessary for the execution of the project;• Maintain regular written and oral reporting with the donor and SFCG’s Country Director;• Maintain responsible media coverage of program events and issues related to SFCG mission;• Develop regular reports on project activities and finances.• Collaborate with the Project Manager and the Program Director on the implementation of the project;• Ensure compliance with SFCG Operations Manual policies and procedures;• Maintain updated security plans;• Oversee the management and reporting on project activities, ensuring timely grant reporting and compliance with contract and donor guidelines in coordination with the local partners;• Ensure necessary prior arrangements are made for training activities organized by Lebanese and international trainers; and• Develop and maintain project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions.As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.PLEASE NOTE this is a local position.Requirements and Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree in a related area (Master’s Degree preferred), preferably in conflict resolution, international studies, peace-building, human rights or related area.• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience, including project financial management experience.• Familiarity with the practice of conflict resolution, the refugee response and the Lebanese context, the governorate of Nabatieh in particular.Skills• Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners;• Demonstrated financial management and program administration experience;• Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations;• Experience working with youth;• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills• Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic;• Strong oral and written communications skills;• Demonstrated writing and grants management skills;• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability;• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel;• Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail;• Training experience an advantage.Salary: Commensurate with experience and education, with benefits.
