Psychosocial Support Officer

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the position of Psychosocial Support Officer under the protection department.   Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk   About the job Implement and monitor psychosocial programs related to Child Protection and gender-based violence (GBV) centre-based and outreach activities   Duties • Supervise the centre-based and mobile teams of PSS assistants in urban and rural areas; • Organize day-to-day time management and work related to mobile and centre-based PSS activities (incl. development of weekly schedule and staff work plan); • Receive referrals from different agencies and local actors and provide feedback of actions taken; • Liaise with local partners and communities on areas for PSS interventions – including liaison with communities on mobile activities • Assist the Protection Manager in administrative matters related to Child Protection activities; • Organize protection training in coordination with line manager to strengthen committees capacity to identify and refer protection cases • Write field visit daily and weekly reports on major findings, needs and problems faced; • Propose new activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities;     About you To be successful in this role you must have Bachelor/ Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field; Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint), at least 2-3 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically working with cases of Child Protection or GBV; experience in managing teams; experience in providing trainings and building capacity of staff.   Ideally you will also have Master’s degree in Social Work and/or Psychology, previous experience in working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon, previous experience in working with cases of Child Protection and GBV, as well as ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times; Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility, Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well, flexibility in working overtime when needed; We offer An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from March 2016 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
