Project Assistant (Community Work - Health)

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM), and direct supervision of the Health Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the implementation of  IOM’s health assistance activities to meet specific obligations within IOM’s multi-sectorial Migration Crisis Operational Framework. The incumbent is expected to carry out his/ her duties in accordance with the strictest ethical standards,  maintaining partnerships with Government, international organizations and non-governmental agencies, and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities. In particular, he /she will:   Participate in the identification of potential project beneficiaries, including Syrian refugees, Lebanese returnees and vulnerable host community members in South Lebanon (South and Nabatieh governorates) Reach out to Syrian refugees, Lebanese returnees and vulnerable host community members, provide them with information on available health services and engage them in health education/awareness raising Participate in assessments/surveys of the beneficiaries’ health needs Assist in organization  and implementation of health awareness and education activities in health facilities and communities on topics such as hygiene, maternal and child health, nutrition and other topics according to the beneficiaries’ needs Maintain regular and direct contact with beneficiaries, collect complaints and suggestions Report any difficulties and challenges to the IOM health unit Assist in draft regular reports  of field activities using agreed upon templates  and share relevant information needed for  project proposal development, donor reports and other documents Participate in Health Working Group meetings and other meetings in the South, as required in close coordination with the supervisor. Assist in monitor the correct implementation of the referral system (from IOM-supported health facilities to hospitals in the area) through feedback from beneficiaries Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completed University degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition or related health field would be an advantage.
Experience and qualifications:
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience, including experience in the public health sector in Lebanon
• Experience working within international development and/or local NGO sector is a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of project development, implementation and monitoring is an advantage
• Demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian system through work experience and/or studies is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of the South governorate, willingness to undertake daily travel locally.
• Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Internet explorer.
