Objectives To provide French language courses to interested staff members. Upon completion of training, according to the respective levels, S/Ms will be able to speak, listen, write and read.
Background French is among the UN Official languages and it is widely used in Lebanon. Alongside with Arabic and English, French is also a working language used in official communications and correspondences in the country.Language classes at institutions are within working hours and not manageable for staff to attend. The timing and location needs to be better tailored to the working schedules and physically easily reachable.
Scope of work Classes in French language will be held in the premises of UNICEF Beirut at regular agreed hours, and will be facilitated by a local training institution or individual trainer.Participants’ levels will be evaluated before the start of classes; training will be organized accordingly and trainees will be grouped by level.At the end of the quarter, the consultant will conduct a final evaluation of participants and the results will be shared with the supervisor.
Deliverables and Schedules The assignment is designed to provide courses for a group of 12 persons maximum and the duration is of 15 weeks, as follow:Week 1: Assessment of the local language level of staff who will attend the course.Week 2: Custom design of the course.Week 3 to 14: Two language sessions per week.Week 15: Final evaluation and reporting of participants and course.
Timing The contract will begin asap for 15 weeks duration.The language classes will be provided over 12 weeks, twice per week, for 1 hour duration. The schedule will be agreed between the teacher and the participants
Reporting Requirements Contractor to report to HR Officer. Week 1: Assessment of the language level of staff who will attend the course.Week 2: Custom design of the course.Week 15: Final evaluation of participants’ language level.
Profile Requirements -Relevant advanced university degree-3 years of French language teaching experience-A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.-The selected candidate must also have the appropriate equipment and materials to ensure the quality of learning.
Administrative Issues Supervisor and certifying officer: LTC SecretaryClassrooms and learning materials (copier, table and markers) will be provided by UNICEF.1.Prospective audio-visual materials are the responsibility of the provider.2.The financial proposal should be all-inclusive (fee per session, assessment(s) of participants, course design…).
