Première Urgence – Aide Médicale Internationale is a not-for-profit, non-political and non-religious NGO. Its objective is to bring about a global response to the basic needs of populations suffering from acute humanitarian crisis and to allow them to recover their autonomy and dignity. PU-AMI’s involvement in the Syrian Crisis is strong, with a wide range of programs implemented in most of the countries affected by the conflict.   PU-AMI’s main objective in Lebanon for the years 2015/2016 is to provide a protection-based holistic response, covering the basic needs of refugees and host communities in Beirut, Saida, Mount Lebanon and Akkar districts.   A multi-sectorial portfolio of activities (Psychosocial, Education, Health, WASH, Food Security, Infrastructure, Shelter Rehabilitation and IS/CS Management - Protection) is addressing refugees and host population’s vulnerabilities, by enabling individuals and communities to achieve respect for rights in safety and dignity.   PU-AMI is also seeking more sustainable and cost-efficient modalities of implementation, mainly by building partnerships with local organizations and existing public entities, which will contribute to bridge the humanitarian assistance delivered to refugees with specific community support projects, in order to strengthen the social cohesion between communities.   Consequently, PU-AMI’s 2015-2016 Country Strategy is based on 2 programs: A Humanitarian Assistance Program: providing a protection-based humanitarian material assistance and services to the most vulnerable refugees and people affected by the Syrian Crisis. A Resilience Program: developing and strengthening community-level infrastructures as well as supporting household-level economic empowerment and well-being, with regards to specific poor and vulnerable groups, including women and people with disabilities.   POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION   Position: Nurse Component:  Health Based in: Halba   Supervision Under the direct supervision of: Health Project Manager  Under the indirect supervision :  Project Implementation Coordinator Under the overall supervision of: Field Coordinator OVERALL MISSION General objective PU-AMI will start a mobile outreach project in Akkar governorate, targeting the pregnant and postnatal women in the Informal settlements of Syrian refugees also vulnerable host families. Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and as part of a mobile unit team, the nurse will be in charge of identifying, advising, follow up and referring chronic patients to the nearest PHC. Responsibilities and tasks         1. Community Outreach Track, register and follow chronic patients within Informal Settlements and Host Communities Ensure chronic therapy/drugs are available and at reach for patients at all times Ensure the chronic therapy is strictly followed, as advised by doctor Provide information of supported hospitals for critically ill chronic patients Provide treatment planning and ensure the same respected according to schedule advised by doctor           2. Referrals Provide information and link chronic patients to YMCA network at nearest PHC (Public Health Center) within network Advocate and link with YMCA network in order to make sure all chronic patients are getting therapy in proper quantity and quality (expiry date, damaged package etc.) Refer high risks chronic patients to the nearest PHC for specialist cares and laboratory investigations Ensure awareness and knowledge of referral options and pathways          3. Monitoring Ensure blood pressure (BP) monitoring of chronic patients on a regular basis Ensure glucose blood levels for diabetic patients is measured (rapid test device) on regular basis Closely follow up and monitor cases referred to PHC or secondary health care centers Link with CBSS (Community Based Surveillance System) focal points and monitor the communicable disease presence/outbreak           4. Reporting Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports) Ensure a relevant transfer of information to line manager     The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.     QUALIFICATIONS Mandatory requirements  Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic (reading, writing, speaking), English language desirable Education Degree: Nursery diploma, certified by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon Work experience: Proven experience working as nurse Computer Skills: knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook Other requirements Good knowledge of Akkar geography, willing to travel a lot locally Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations Literacy in reporting, experience in conducting surveys Assets   Interest: Work in relief Transversal skills            -Strong motivation to help people in need            -Conflict resolution and diplomacy experience            -Understanding of the political situation in the area            -Reliability            -Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work            -Capacity to work in an multidisciplinary and multicultural team            -Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself            -Ability to analyze and suggest improvements of the activities            -Well organized and hard worker            -Able to manage stress and pressure            -Ability to remain neutral
