Wash Research And Policy Specialist

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Work with programme team to jointly compile, gather and analyse information(from and for our programs), to guide our programming and to use for advocacy purposes, ensuring Oxfam advocacy is based on program evidence and programmes are relevant and evidence-based Guide research conducted by external consultancies under Oxfam’s WASH programmes Provide reports and papers on WASH to promote Oxfam’s WASH agenda, with local to national government, and with national civil society and humanitarian organisations. Works with the WASH programme staff to ensure delivery of specific outreach and awareness activities, such as organising of conferences. In collaboration with relevant programme and policy staff, and management, develop working relations with key stakeholders across local authorities, central authorities and civil society to influence agenda setting and WASH policy and practice Maintain an overview of the major trends affecting water and poverty within Lebanon Ensure that all work addresses the challenges of gender justice. Work with the WASH Coordinator and funding team to develop funding proposals     SKILLS AND COMPETENCE: (E = essential, D = desirable)   Extensive knowledge of the Lebanon water sector (E), and the Bekaa in particular (D) Knowledge of policies, legal and administrative frameworks on water and sanitation service provision within Lebanon (E) Proven experience of research, including research design and methodologies, data collection and analysis (E) Knowledge of water related issues and programming in support of addressing long term vulnerability within Lebanon (D) Understanding of emerging trends and challenges in water for domestic and productive use and potential solutions to the challenges within Lebanon (D)  Experience at working with communities and civil society organisations, especially in supporting their linking of on-the-ground issues to national-level change (D) Experience in working with consulting firms and teams (E) Proven ability to communicate easily and readily verbally and in written form, fast delivery of a substantial workload with completed, specific planned deliverables. (E) Ability to constructively contribute to the development of grant proposals (D) Team player, self-motivated, ability to work with little supervision. (E) Fluent in written and spoken Arabic (E)
