Midwife

Generic Duties: Project component: In collaboration with the staff already on board (psychologist, lawyer, case workers and community mobilizers, field activity coordinator), the midwife will be involved in both activities through specialized support and counseling to women at risk, survivors of SGBV. This assistance can include health counseling/advice/information, support in dealing with medical procedures and providing trainings on (referral pathways for) GBV and CP to healthcare providers and staff. The midwife will also be requested to provide counseling support and advice to the INTERSOS team in dealing with particular health challenges related to survivors of SGBV in Lebanon.   Case management: Based on the individual case-plans, the midwife will provide survivors of GBV (both children and adults) that are receiving case management support from the INTERSOS caseworkers, with specialized services and information, in particular by; -       Providing individual counseling support regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) including family planning; -       Providing individual support in dealing with pregnancy, including support to cases of early pregnancy or unwanted pregnancies; -       Providing individual awareness to survivors of early marriage and/or at risk of early pregnancy regarding the medical consequences of early pregnancy and how to mitigate these risks; -       Providing support to survivors that have contracted sexual transmitted diseases, or that are facing other physical complications as a result of the incident, including complications affecting their sexual and reproductive health, in coping with these consequences.   To ensure all cases (both GBV and CP) can receive the medical support they may be in need of, it is therefore the responsibility of the midwife to support the caseworkers in: -       Maintaining good relationships with healthcare providers in the area, in particular with health facilities providing Clinical Management of Rape (CMR). Where needed, the midwife will support the caseworkers in the establishment of referral pathways with health care providers, to ensure ethical and safe referrals in both directions; -       Providing counseling to CP and GBV cases regarding the options available for medical support; -       Based on the needs, accompanying cases that need to access medical facilities to ensure cases are provided with the appropriate support in an ethical and safe manner;     Awareness activities: -       The midwife will conduct regular SGBV awareness sessions with beneficiaries as indicated by the monthly schedule by the Protection Manager and Protection Officer for Community Services -       The midwife will conduct trainings for INTERSOS staff on SGBV core concepts and SGBV safe identification and referrals -       Based on the assessment of the psychologist, the midwife will provide counseling/advice and information on health issues during awareness sessions and focus group discussion with women and girls.   Others: -   Provide support to ROVs, Wash outreach team, Protection Monitors and Community Mobilizers on how to address sensitive issues in the community -   Provide support to ROVs, Wash outreach team, Protection Monitors and Community Mobilizers to regarding the health component of activities at the community level. -   Provide support to the case workers regarding the health component of activities -   Participate in staff meetings as required;
