Job Overview/Summary: The ECE Officer will train and support the community ECE teachers in creating quality learning environments for children, focused on creating a safe and friendly learning environment and ensuring the desired learning and social emotional achievements by the students. He/she will be supervised by Education Field Manager, and will work closely with the Education Technical Manager, based in Beirut, as well as the IRC Teacher Trainers, based in Bekaa.
Major Responsibilities:
Technical Quality
Build the professional skills of ECE Teachers in teaching methods and techniques for successful delivery of the community-based ECE. He/she will spend 80% of his/her work time in the field.
Monitor and evaluate childrens’ learning and social emotional achievements; assist in the administration of the early childhood assessments.
Conduct pre service and in-service ECE teacher training sessions for all project ECE teachers
Conduct standardized Teacher Classroom Observations at regular intervals in an objective fashion, under the supervision of the Education Manager and M&E Manager
Prepare and provide the training programs and materials with the coordination of Education Manager and the Technical Manager, under the supervision of the Senior Education Manager
Work with community members in identifying non-formal early childhood education needs, assuring the community cooperation with the program and their participation
Conduct campaigns and trainings for raising awareness about gender, especially for improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
Prepare and maintain the teacher supervision, class monitoring and teacher in-classroom support files; prepare the work plan in consultation with the team and field manager; report on activities on monthly bases.
Assist the staff in distributing textbooks, other learning and classroom documentation materials
Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with public school MEHE officials and staff of other education sector organizations.
Contribute to the development of quality educational programs and trainings with other IRC education staff.

Job Requirements:
Technical diploma or degree in social science, pedagogy, preferable
Experience working directly with ECE/preschool programs as a teacher/trainer (public or private)
Experience in working with communities (refugee communities a plus)
Experience in working with children and organizing activities a plus
Working experience in NGO a plus
Minimum of 3 years working experience (teaching/teacher training focused on ECE)
Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic mandatory English speaking is a plus
Working Environment: Field based in Bekaa, with at least half time spent traveling to ITS camps and non-formal schools, meeting with community leaders, and half in the office in Zahle processing work and reporting with the team. Holding meetings and trainings in Education sites (tents and buildings in or near ITS camps).
