Child Protection Policy:
- Commit to respect the Tdh Child Protection Policy and principles of child protection.
- Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Tdh Child Protection Policy inLebanon.
- Commit to inform supervisors and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Tdh Child Protection Policy.
Main duties and responsibilities:
General:
- Promotes, facilitates and encourages the achievement of the action planning objectives.
- Ensures that Tdh’s project actions or activities are non biased, neutral and inclusive of all actors present in the Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian refugee contexts.
- Works directly in the field with children, families and stakeholders of the project locations he/she is allocated to.
- Is a Tdh focal point in the community and represents the organization.
- Facilitates, collects and reports information regarding the overall situation of the children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the project children.
- Identifies, networks and connects child protection resources to the child, community and community structures
- Supports and assists in the network mapping of resources specific to the locations he/she operates in.
- Shares child protection resources and information both within the Tdh staff structure and the community he/she operates in.
- Promotes and ensures the principles of child protection and child participation are respected within the Tdh project and with identified child protection resources.
- Informs his/her direct supervisor about any difficulty met in Tdh activities implementation.
- Ensures a strict adherence to Tdh Child Protection Policy at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child centered approach, acts in the best interests of the child.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Child Protection Resources:
- Identifies, liaises, promotes, facilitates, coaches and when necessary delivers training to child protection resources with a view to strengthening their capacity to respond to child protection needs.
- Assists in the production of a referral pathway tool, clearly identifying both formal and informal child protection resources.
Case Management:
- Assumes primary case management responsibility to project targeted children.
- Ensures that risk assessment, case mapping and exit planning is conducted.
- Ensures a prompt and timely response to children determined and identified at ‘high risk’ through project activities.
- Promotes, ensures and establishes the child as a central actor in case management practices.
- Links the child, his/her family and community to child protection resources and networks of assistance.
- Attends and participates in regular case management meetings.
- Maintains case management files to a high standard, complete with up-to-date information.
- Acts in the best interest of the child.
Relief distribution (dignity kits, baby hygiene kits):
- Participates in the identification of the beneficiaries.
- Participates in the monitoring of the lists.
- Participates in the organization of the distributions
- Delivers the relief items to the intended beneficiaries with respect and dignity
- Ensures the proper recording of the distribution (filling of delivery papers, signing of distribution lists, returns forms…)
- Ensures the proper handling of the relief items on distribution sites, during transportation and the recording of each item’s movement.
- Supports if needed the animators in their recreational activities
Safety audits and community sessions:
- Organizes and conducts safety audits sessions, with recording of the attendance
- Organizes and conducts community child protection awareness raising sessions as determined by project objectives, with recording of the attendance.
Monitoring:
- Participates in the monitoring of the use of the support using the methodology developed with the Project Manager.
- Performs home visits for post distribution monitoring, using questionnaires.
Reporting:
- Ensures data is collected and collated to prove the achievement of project objectives.
- Assists in the design, maintain and use data collection systems and punctual reporting to enable measurable results to prove the achievement of project objectives.
- Provide reports as required and directed by the Project Manager on the distributions, the awareness sessions, the monitoring, and the case management.
- Participates in the post-distribution monitoring reports
Non-Violent Communication:
- Adhere to the principles of the NVC process while in communication with all project actors, including colleagues.
- Ensure that conflict is addressed with the principles and process of NVC with all project actors and colleagues.
- Support and assume responsibility, if necessary, for conflict transformation activities and actions
- Assist the Tdh T&D department regarding identification, referral and intervention in child protection related conflict events, mediation, training and coaching of resources.
Project Neutrality:
- Ensures that Tdh’s project actions or activities are non-biased, neutral and inclusive of all actors present in the Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian refugee context.
- Reports any breach of neutrality, even if perceived but not true, to the Project Manager.
- Promotes and ensures that all actors, regardless of political or non-political affiliations, are aware of Tdh’s project’s neutrality and activities with all actors in the context.
