Environmental Review Officer

                      Lebanon Water Project (LWP)   Scope of Work   Environmental Review Officer, Long Term Position   Background:   The USAID-funded Lebanon Water Project (LWP) is a five year project that works to increase reliable and sustainable access to potable water for Lebanese citizens; improve water management practices and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of public water utilities, while raising awareness on sustainable water use practices and promote better water governance to help assure long-term protection of Lebanon’s water resources.   General Objective:   The Environmental Review Officer will ensure that all infrastructure projects are implemented in accordance with Lebanon environmental policies and USAID environmental standards.  S/he will work under the oversight of the Infrastructure Planning and Development Team Lead.   Responsibilities:   Ensure the environmental standards are incorporated into the design and implementation of the infrastructure activities and projects. Monitor the progress and completion of all infrastructure projects. Lead the development of the Environment Mitigation and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) or Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the project. Work closely with local subcontractors to ensure that environmental standards are met. Help increase knowledge and understanding of environmental standards and compliance among the project team. Other tasks as assigned.   Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or related field. Previous experience working with environmental compliance with USAID or other donor funded projects. Knowledge of environmental regulations in Lebanon. Strong attention to detail, teamwork skills, as well as effective      cross-cultural interpersonal skills. Demonstrated communications and presentation skills.
