Background and Justification
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.theIRC.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict development services for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 25 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and life -saving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies.
The IRC has started up a Protection Monitoring and Information Dissemination project in Qobayat to assist thousands of Syrian refugees. The project seeks to promote a protective environment for adults and children, especially those identified through monitoring to be most at-risk of rights violations and problems in accessing services, through reporting and referral of protection concerns faced by vulnerable groups and individuals.
IRC Akkar Protection Monitoring team is in need for intensive English language classes for 6 monitors to enhance verbal and written communication skills to be able to write their daily protection monitoring reports in English, read and comprehend documents ,protection material and emails in English.
Learning Objectives and Delivery Methodology
Deliver a customized program to teach English language to a group of 6 individuals with slightly different proficiency levels.
The main purpose of this class if to teach and enhance verbal and written English communication skills. The classes will be tailored depending on the level of the participants, the learning material and methodology will be selected by the instructor.
Indicative Contents of the Training
The 6 participants of the training are protection monitors of IRC Akkar team. The training will contain handouts and notes provided by the teacher and verbal instructions on written and verbal English communication skills.
Period and location of training delivery.
The training will be offered for 8 weeks , twice a week . Each session will be 2 hours. Location : IRC office in Qobayat
Pre- and post-training test requirements
The teacher will measure the progress every 2 weeks by a short quiz and a test at the end of the course
Arrangements Expected from Contractor
The teacher will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and conducting the classes twice a week. Each class will be 2 hours.
The teacher will provide:

Certification if possible
Adequate English Language skills
Customized training v/s the need
Expected Deliverables
Conduct 2 weekly classes for 2 hours each over 8 weeks
Ensure classes are conducted in a timely manner
Identify challenges faced by participants and assist as appropriate
Conduct continuous assessment to monitor progress of participants
