Social Worker

Basic Function: purpose and scope   The social worker will provide social counseling and assistance in response to the needs of vulnerable refugees and host community in the school. The social worker will perform a variety of task and duties intending to find the best solution in order to make the project and activities successful.   Duties performed:   Conduct interviews to identify vulnerable families Collaborate with school principals to achieve project activities Refer traumatized cases to a psychologist/orthophonist for counseling and assistance. Conduct home visits to assess the needs of the families Collaborate with teachers for monitoring of students academic progress, psychosocial wellbeing and development through the year and assess the impact of support provided Prepare teacher trainings on positive discipline, child rights, fostering active listening skills,impact of trauma on academic development Identify students for homework support Collaborate with teachers to chieve remedial classes after school hours Create/support parent teacher association with the aim of increasing caretakers involvement in children education, informing caretakers of students academic and psychosocial development, and assessing family needs Carry out educational activities such as excursion for students Conduct awareness sessions on non discrimination,... Keep file of incidents of discrimination reported by students, teachers or parents Facilitate vocational skills training for parents of vulnerable students
