Project Description:
Developing Rehabilitation Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement-II (D-RASATI-II) is a project that aims at enhancing student achievement in Lebanese public schools by training English teachers, developing extra-curricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, developing school leadership and building the capacity and tools necessary to support school improvement planning.
D-RASATI-II is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project. It started in October 2013 and expected to end in March 2016.
Position Description:
The Arabic Language Translator will be responsible for rendering the highest quality of translation services to ensure Arabic translation of D-RASATI 2’s Psychosocial Support modules and documents in English. The translator will be also responsible for making sure that the translated documents are cohesive, well structured, well-written, and publication-ready to be shared with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Objectives and Tasks
The translator will work in coordination with the D-RASATI 2 management to translate material for the Psychosocial Support activities. The translator will be responsible for:
1. Producing a 100% accurate translation of English text to Arabic;
2. Ensuring Arabic language excellence and proofreading;
3. Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation;
4. The translation submitted to D-RASATI 2 under this TOR is the property of D-RASATI 2 and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party, unless arranged otherwise;
5. The translator is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be available to D-RASATI 2 for comments and corrections;
8. Upholding confidentiality and completing the translation perfectly and promptly.
Outputs
The key deliverables are as follows:
1. Perfectly translated documents from English into Arabic in compliance with D-RASATI 2 and MEHE’s editorial style and terminology.
Qualifications and Experience
An advanced academic degree in Translation or the Arabic Language.
At least six years of relevant experience as a Translator.
Ability to work independently, under pressure to ensure work is achieved to a high standard and in a timely manner
An eye for detail along with critical thinking
Excellent interpersonal skills
Familiarity with the Lebanese public education sector
Location
The translator will work remotely from home or from the D-RASATI 2 office in Downtown.
