We are looking for a Database Technical Consultant to be responsible for providing all relevant technical support to the MEL-IM Unit to ensure timely delivery of the DRC Alpha integrated database by end-December 2015.

Duties•Provide technical database design/development support (including initial design and maintenance/upgrade) to the MEL-IM Unit and specifically the Database Coordinator to ensure the DRC Alpha integrated database is live and fully operational by end-December 2015;•Ensure timely delivery of weekly work plans, sent by the Database Coordinator on each Friday in line with database development/maintenance/upgrade priorities;•Review alternative systems and tools to provide advice/recommendations to in-house development team;•Implement automated scoring/analysis processes as designed/directed by in-house development team;•Implement database change controls;•At the direction and in coordination with the Database Coordinator, produce written/visual support materials (such as schema design/documentation) to ensure adequate documentation of design process and core functions – for technical and non-technical audiences;•Provide technical backup support (remote) to Beirut and field teams where required due to loss of operational capacity in Lebanon;•Other duties as agreed with Database Coordinator in line with objectives above and weekly work plans.
About you•Undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or other relevant field;•At least three years experience in database design/development and web development;•Experience in designing/developing integrated data management systems that include mobile application collection technology (ODK), database (postgreSQL), and online platform (WaveMaker, Angular JS);•Experience designing/developing automated scoring and data analysis systems;•Experience integrating analytical software (such as Tableau) with data management systems;•Experience in performance tuning and index maintenance to meet/support needs of in-house development team (using specified software/applications above);•Experience designing customized PostgreSQL queries to add permission module to web systems;•Extensive experience with Java, Javascript, JSON, and open source web applications (such as WaveMaker);•Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes;•Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including technical/non-technical audiences, from inception/design to launch/training phases;•Experience in the design/development of data management systems in the Middle East essential;•Experience in humanitarian/development data management needs essential.

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 60 days consultancy contract.You must be available to start work from 1 October 2015 and be willing and able to work in Beirut, and throughout Lebanon.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National and International staff.
