Assistant Hygiene Promotion Officer

Background ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO, founded in 1993, which supports vulnerable populations, affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. ACTED provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and engaging long-term challenges facing our target populations, in order to break the poverty cycle, foster development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Our interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context. Our 4 000 staff is committed in to responding to emergencies worldwide, to supporting recovery and rehabilitation, towards sustainable development. Our teams in the field implement some 380 projects in 34 countries covering the following sectors emergency relief, food security, access to health, education and training, economic development, microfinance, advocacy, institutional support, and regional dialogue, cultural promotion. Assignment Under the supervision of the Hygiene Promotion Supervisor (HPS), the Assistant Hygiene Promotion Officer (AHPO) will assist in community consultations, referring health cases and training community outreach hygiene promoters in the implementation of hygiene promotion activities as per ACTED’s hygiene promotion strategy.  Functions   The Assistant Hygiene Promotion Officer will support the HPS in ensuring for his/her performance, in terms of outputs, quality, efficiency and compliance with ACTED rules and policies:   1.1  Organisation and Planning   -          The AHPO is responsible for having a good knowledge of his/her geographical area or target group, in collaboration with his/her team. -          The AHPO will participate in campaign development with the collaboration of the local committees and focal points.   1.2  HR and time management:   -          The AHPO should report immediately to the HPS concerning any difficulty met in the implementation of his/her activities, in dealing with beneficiaries, authorities or with other stakeholders, or with concern to security.   1.3  Information:   -          Hygiene Promotion Campaigns: the AHPO contributes to the delivery of accurate and agreed-upon hygiene promotion to the community – based on the hygiene promotion campaigns that are developed. -          The AHPO is responsible for sharing information both to the team and from the team to management.   2.      Reporting   2.1  Performance reporting:   -          The AHPO will contribute to the health database and ensure that referrals are up to date and accurate   2.2  Ad-hoc reporting:   -          The AHPO  is responsible for communicating issues, problems, challenges, or ideas to the HPS and ensuring the flow of information between the field staff and the Hygiene Promotion team.   2.3  HR reporting:   -          Reporting of any incidences or HR matters   3.      Communication and Coordination   3.1  Communication with community hygiene promotion team:   -          The AHPO will maintain open dialogue with all team members, and will treat all staff in a respectful way. -          The AHPO will facilitate communication between the community hygiene promotion team and the HPS on issues, ideas, and results of our work.   3.2  Cross-Programme communication:   -          The AHPO will assist the HPS to work in close coordination and collaboration with the WASH/Shelter Technical Field Officers, Liaison Officer, Water Quality Monitor, and the other ACTED staff working in the designated geographical area.   4.      Security   -          The AHPO is responsible for immediately reporting incidences to the HPS
