Enumerator (Contributing Towards Ensuring Food Security For Vulnerable Conflict-Affected Syrian Refugees In Lebanon)

JOB PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND   Based either in West Bekaa or Rachaya districts (TBA) with daily movements to the field, the Enumerator (ENU) will have to interview a given daily target of Syrian refugees’ households (HHs) to collect correct and reliable information according to their specific role in the survey. The success of the data collection and the whole data reliability depends on the skills of every enumerator, his/her ability to conduct the related tasks, their resilience to long working days and their ability to coordinate with their team leader, to whom the ENU reports. The ENU reports to the TL on a daily basis on any issue that might arise, already arouse, and lessons learned both at team and interview/survey management level. The ENU and team leader TL will manage the list, number and location of HHs to be interviewed in any given day, and will liaise accordingly with the HH members to arrange the time of the interview in their settlement, making sure that no time is wasted and the daily target of HHs interviewed is consistently reached. Because of the delicate nature of the task, enumerators will work in couples, one man and one woman. The ENU will be monitored and assessed on a daily basis by the team leader, who will also conduct random household interviews him/herself on a daily basis and on randomly selected HHs to double-check the quality and possible bias of the data collected by the ENU. The ENU will be proficient in the use of any Android device (smartphones and tablets) that will be used to send, to a central server, the data collected in digital formats (on pape only in case of emergency or no signal available). In brief, the ENU WITH CAR is responsible for conducting a given daily target of interviews and assessments of Syrian refugees’ households and collect correct and reliable information in digital formats on Android devices. The ENU will manage the list, number and location of HHs to be interviewed in any given day, and will liaise with the HH members to arrange the time of the interview in their settlement.   SPECIFIC DUTIES: Ensure coordination with team leaders, colleagues and all the actors involved in the survey/verification; Support the team leader to guarantee that host municipalities are aware of our activities in their area, ensuring that the relevant municipalities are constantly informed of date and location of interviews in due time; Support the team leader to receive the lists, prepare them, identify locations, inform HHs members, etc…; Report complaints to the team leader; Identify HHs location; Represent INTERSOS in the field; Data Collection: conduct a number of HH visits per day (approximately 10) to rural areas, tent settlements, etc…; Make sure that all questions have been asked and that the recorded answers are clear and correct; Respect the time required for data collection, breaks and meals; Maintain constant contact with team members and beneficiaries (receive their requests, provide available information, etc.); Perform all other necessary actions for the functioning and success of the project in order to deliver assistance to the designated beneficiaries; Respect the total confidentiality of the data collected; Ensure to never speak about data out of the survey project and security of the records and files; Follow security measures; Participate to the briefing and debriefing sessions and to the organization of the weekly plan with the team leader; Be committed to participate to any other task in order to achieve the project overall objective;

• High School and/or Technical Degree;
• Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting;
• Experience in the field of surveys;
• Valid Lebanese driving license;
• Knowledge of humanitarian principles and good knowledge of the region and local languages;
• Capability to establish with the persons and families a good and respectful contact in order to ensure the quality of interviews;
• Good physical fitness to walk distances if necessary;
• Patience, good personal organisation, good communication and ability to work in teams, seriously, rigorously and personal accountability;
• Very good Interpersonal and Diplomatic Skills in client/beneficiaries-facing situations;
• Initiative, flexibility and willing to learn;
• Ability to work under time pressure, independently, and with limited supervision;
• Able to input data on Android smartphones;
• Good level of numeracy;
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is a must.
