Project Coordinator

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Due to a lack of regulation and accountability practices, censorship of internet activities is on the rise in Lebanon. Online activists, bloggers, and regular internet users are being subject to growing pressure by Lebanon’s censorship authorities; this is severely affecting freedom of expression in Lebanon. As MARCH continues to fight censorship in all its forms, our organization has noted a need to specifically counter the unregulated, illegal, and unfair practices of censorship against the internet in Lebanon. To do so, we have decided to address this subject from three sides: Human Rights Protection through Legal Support: the establishment of a legal hotline which those who have been subject to internet censorship can contact for legal advice Legislation: the drafting of a clear and fair law on the prerogatives of those censoring the internet in Lebanon Advocacy, Accountability & Awareness: public documentation, through social media campaigns and press conferences of the human and civil rights violations committed by internet censors; and the creation of a ‘Know Your Rights’ booklet to keep citizens aware of their rights, and lobby for a new legally sound law.  JOB DESCRIPTION:  MARCH Lebanon is seeking a project coordinator in Beirut, Lebanon.
