Learning Support Advisor (Volunteer)     Location Central Lebanon Area – Tyre Area– Beqa’a Area Type of Appointment Contractor (Roster – total of 100 persons) Deadline for Application 05 August 2015 Vacancy Announcement Number 986/2015 Department/Division Education Department    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent will work in the regular classrooms, under the supervision of the Learning Support Teachers, and will have the following duties;   (A)    Works usually in the classroom under the direct instructions of teaching / senior staff; (B)    Support access to learning for students and provides general support to the teacher in the individualized instruction of specific students in the classroom; (C)    Attends to a students’  individualized learning needs; and prepare individual educational plans (D)   Supports students by enhancing their leaning; (E)    Encourages students to act independently as appropriate; (F)    Be aware of students’ problems / progress / achievements and report to the teacher as agreed; (G)   Supports the teacher in managing students’ behavior, reporting difficulties as appropriate; (H)    Supports students in undertaking literacy and numeracy tasks as directed by the teacher; (I)      Prepares and maintains equipments / resources as directed by the teacher and assists students in their use; (J)    Contributes to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school; (K)    Attends relevant meetings as required; (L)    Participates in training and other learning activities and performance development as required; (M)   Accompanies teaching staff and students on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional i)    BA in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, ii)   BA in one of the educational school subjects ( Arabic, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies)   (B)   Experience        No experience needed.   (C)   Language        Good command of spoken and written Arabic and English.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Daily Fee: This is a volunteering funding, the Daily Fee USD 19 per day. Contract Duration: to establish a roster for a total of 100 persons (Central Lebanon Area – Tyre Area– Beqa’a Area) and for ten months - Extendable according to availability of Funds, needs and performance.   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.     GENERAL INFORMATION UNRWA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications equally from men and women. Upon selection, a staff member may be offered the consultant/contractor contract upon resignation from fixed term appointments and a three month break-in-service.
