We are looking for a highly qualified candidate to assist in the Protection Monitoring in Akkar office.
Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. About the job The Protection Monitoring Assistant will be responsible to monitor protection concerns among refugee and host communities in Akkar. In addition, the Protection Monitoring Assistant will identify and refer protection cases to relevant services.
Duties• Conduct mobile field visits 4 days per week to refugee settlement and host population areas to meet with community key stakeholders and identify protection concerns; • Identify and refer most vulnerable identified cases as well as individuals faced with protection concerns (incl. GBV, Child protection, etc.) to relevant internal or external services; • Develop and maintain a clear communication line with the Community Focal Points for the identifying and refer protection concerns.• Support analysis of collected data and trend with the supervisor and team; • Identify community focal points and settlement representatives to organize and conduct protection monitoring activities and follow up; • Liaise with localized advocacy groups, community based committees and other relevant local stakeholders (incl. municipalities, service providers, etc.) to improve the effectiveness of the protection monitoring activities; • Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Protection Monitoring Officer.
About you To be successful in this role you must have Bachelor in Social work, political science, law or related field. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility; comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well, fluency in Arabic required;
Ideally you will also have minimum two years experience in an NGO, preferably in social or legal work;
We offer An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from August 2015 and be willing and able to work in Akkar.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level B1, equivalent to 1204$ per month.
