Technical Expert/consultant For Life Skills Curricula Review And Development

Terms of Reference   Technical Expert/Consultant for life skills curricula review and development   PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTANCY:   World Vision Lebanon (WVL) seeks to contract a professional expert/expert organization with a broad background and experience in life skills. The consultant’s main role will be to compile, review and analyze Life skills projects’ different sessions implemented by World Vision and come-up accordingly with a comprehensive document gathering all Life Skills sessions by categories and under the Life Skills Project Model developed by World Vision Global Center in order to use this document in the future as a reference for all Life Skills projects in the organization. He/She will be reviewing as well other Life Skills curricula developed in the country in order to mention potential gaps in WVL’s Life Skills sessions and add the adequate activities to the above mentioned document.   BACKGROUND:   The rationale behind this intervention is to develop a unified Life skills curriculum in order to support future Life Skills programmes. Many LS projects have been implemented all over the different areas of intervention at WVL, with differences and similarities according to the context, beneficiaries’ needs and objectives of each project. The aim of this assignment is to classify all this sessions according to WV 5 competencies inspired by our project model. At the end of the consultancy, a LS manual/document in Arabic will be developed based on all LS implemented sessions and project model.   SPECIFIC REQUIRED TASKS:   The expected tasks include the following:   1.    Gather all the LS sessions used in the different implemented projects at WVL as well as other curricula implemented in other organization and categorize them  as per the below then, if needed, add new categories when gaps are identified as he/she see relevant and based on his/her experience in this sector: Age group Topics Covered competencies Particularities References used for its development.   2.     Conduct a desk review of reports, evaluations, lessons learned and challenges of all LS projects implemented within our Development and relief programmes 3.    Conduct interviews and meetings with Education Coordinators, Development Facilitators and technical specialists to understand their perception of LS in Programming and its impact on communities. 4.    Prepare the final document to be printed and edited and support when needed, the printing provider editing the content of the manual/document in Arabic. 5.    Review the manual after the submission to a graphic designer.              CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   The Consultant should have the following competencies and experience:   -          Experience in training on life skills. -          Experience in developing and analyzing LS curricula and approaches. -          Familiar with civil society and NGO engagement  -          Good analytical and critical thinking -          Strong English and Arabic language proficiency   DURATION OF THE CONSULTANCY:     The consultant/organization will provide services for WVL as needed during the period from July 20th till September 20th 2015.
