1. Introduction:
The Association for Forests, Development and Conservation (AFDC) is seeking an education expert for the development of a self-learning guide for extra-curricular activities adapted to teachers and students of intermediate schools.
2. Background:
The AFDC is currently implementing a project within the community of Deir Ammar, in the North of Lebanon to support this host community in coping with the educational implications of the Syrian refugees’ crisis. The project "Deir Ammar, a Child Friendly Community” is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs through a grant from the European Union.
3. Purpose of the assignment:
AFDC will appoint a qualified education expert who will be responsible for the development of the self-learning guide for educational activities to be used by the community’s schools. Teachers, students and scouts will benefit from the developed guide in their outreach work with the community members. Moreover, the guide can be used beyond the project’s focus area to widen the scope of benefit.

Present the outline of the self-learning guide
Review relevant material published locally, regionally or internationally.
Develop a roster of ideas for extra-curricular activities that can be applied within the targeted schools and beyond.
Coordinate with AFDC the proposed ideas and develop the overall outline of the guide.
Week 1
Present the first draft of the self-learning guide
Develop the content of the guide based on the outline and the ideas agreed upon.
Coordinate with AFDC during the development of the content to make sure it conforms to the project’s targets.
Attend a one day visit to Al-Farouk School in Deir Ammar to discuss with the teachers the self-learning guide.
Present the first draft for AFDC.
Week 2 to 5
Present the finalized self-learning guide
Amend the guide based the suggestions of the Deir Ammar teachers and the feedback from AFDC.
Week 6
5. Competencies:
University degree in education or experience in related fields.
Proven two to three years of experience performing tasks of similar nature.
Strong communication skills.
Highly detailed oriented with excellent time management skills.
Strong commitment to sharing expertise and experience.
Ability to perform under constrained time schedules.
Strong command of written and spoken Arabic and English
Good knowledge of MS Word and general computer skills.
