BackgroundThe Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The position
The selected candidate will coordinate all external communications and public information materials for DRC Lebanon
Reports to: Country Director
As a Communications Manager you will be charged with:
•Designing and implement targeted communication and advocacy strategies on various themes as well as on the overall promotion of the DRC mission and mandate;•Leading and coordinate the overall communications work of the DRC Lebanon including online – web and social media - traditional media, publications, blogs, branding materials, events and campaigns for greatest impact;•Preparing press materials and advise senior management on press engagement•Working closely with the Programme team to ensure that research and programme work translates into clear communication and advocacy messages that are targeted and disseminated widely across various communication channels;•Coordinating and consolidating country office input to design, develop and create country specific overviews (Annual report, newsletter, leaflet, DRC profile) of DRC’s work to be used by programme staff the senior management for external purposes (donor meetings, events, news outlets etc.)•Together with HQ Communications Department and RD/RO assist in organizing press events, handling interviews requests, and providing responses to requests from media in regards to DRC work in Lebanon.•Together with DRC Regional and HQ Communications Departments actively pursue media relations ensuring that media are briefed regularly on issues of importance to DRC.•Undertake field trips to the various field offices with media representatives, and make sure that official visitors have access to information about DRC programmes and activities•Internally monitor and provide regular feedback and guidance on specific communications as needed.•Ensure that partners use the proper DRC tools and develop appropriate visibility materials, in close coordination with in-country DRC programme staff.•Supporting Country Offices on making sure that donor compliance with regards to visibility is adhered to.
Qualifications and experience required•A bachelor degree in social sciences, journalist, media relations, development, gender or related field. Master degree or equivalent desirable, but it is not a requirement.•Fluency in English and Arabic•Up to 3 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, specializing in implementation and assistance to planning and design of communications strategies•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail•Experience with a communication on Human Rights Law and/or Refugee rights will be considered an asset.•Knowledge of html, internet publishing tools, photo editing and multimedia

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.This position will be placed at level D1 equivalent to a Basic Salary of 2,075 USD per month.
