Civic Engagement Component Lead

                      Lebanon Water Project (LWP)   Call for Resumes   Civic Engagement Component Lead, LTTA   Background: DAI seeks Civic Engagement Component Lead candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded “Lebanon Water Project (LWP).” The project will work to increase reliable and sustainable access to potable water for Lebanese citizens; improve water management practices and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of public water utilities, while raising awareness on sustainable water use practices and promote better water governance. The project will also respond to water issues arising from the influx of Syrian refuges as possible.   General Objective:   The Civic Engagement Component Lead is responsible for leading activities to improve civic engagement in water management and improve citizens’ perception of water utilities. S/he will help promote reform at the policy and regulatory level through a bottom-up approach and increase awareness of responsible water use and management. S/he will work closely with the Chief of Party and other component leads to coordinate technical activities.   Responsibilities: Identify opportunities to engage with community and civil society stakeholders in Lebanon on issues related to water supply, management, and conservation. Ensure that wide sectors of Lebanese society are included in water management and water governance, with particular attention to vulnerable populations. Provide senior oversight of activities – ensuring appropriate      design, procedurally correct development, sound implementation, active      monitoring and evaluation, and timely closing – including development of      strategic communications approaches. Supervise other staff members on the civic engagement team,      including any subcontractors. Qualifications: Previous experience working with civil society, advocacy, and/or community engagement in Lebanon, particularly with resource management. Familiarity with water management practices in Lebanon.   Experience supervising teams of professionals, providing technical oversight of deliverables Demonstrated project management experience, including in an      international development context. At least a bachelor’s in water management, public administration, urban      planning and development, international studies, or other relevant field. Strong strategic planning and management skills, as well as strong      teamwork and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills. Demonstrated communications and presentation skills.   Please note this is a proposed position for an upcoming USAID project.
