Job description:
Oxfam are looking to hire a part-time teacher of English to provide regular English lessons for staff. We are looking for a skilled and experienced, creative teacher who can deliver clear and structured lessons in English. This will be a non-staff position paid on day to day basis.
General Purpose: The main responsibility of the teacher is to help the Oxfam Staff to understand English related to their job and focusing on their spoken language and building conversational skills. Lessons will also include building reading and writing skills. The most important focus will be on building comprehension and speaking ability of the individuals. The vocabulary should have a focus on the most relevant words required within the workplace (Driving, Traffic, Logistics, Security and General Communication). You will be required to develop relevant lesson plans and homework assignments, track individual progress, monitor and support the overall progress of the students; in addition, reporting the progress regularly to the area manager. The duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning and teaching classes and the marking of work handed in.
Terms:
3 days per week for one hour per day in the afternoon from 5 to 6pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Organising and delivering classroom lessons to Oxfam staff.
Developing English lesson plans, ensuring an appropriately balanced, broad and relevant curriculum.
Evaluating a students' class work and assignments, including the provision of progress reports to individuals.
Produce creative learning exercises during classes.
Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts.
Recording and maintain accurate student attendance records and grades.
Classroom management.
Alert the appropriate staff to any problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
Maintaining discipline in the classroom.
Creating a vibrant teaching atmosphere.
