Senior Registration Assistant – G5 – Tri039 - Tripoli

The Senior Registration Assistant has no direct supervisory functions. The incumbent will always function under direct supervision of a Senior Officer often Registration Officer or Protection/Field Officer, who is required to monitor the performance of the incumbent and provide regular guidance. The incumbent will also refer to UNHCR Manual and relevant policy papers concerning the registration of refugees. Contacts with other units to exchange information on the situation of refugees   2.2 FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT. Describe the accountabilities, responsibilities and authorities associated with the position. Accountability (key results that will be achieved) Registration activities are undertaken in accordance with UNHCR policies, standards and procedures. Responsibility (process and functions undertaken to achieve results) Assist in the registration process for refugees and other persons of concern. Assist in monitoring the refugee situation including refugee movements in the camp and elsewhere. Update database for registration. Provide statistics and data analysis as required. May be required to collaborate with implementing partners in charge of distribution of Non-food Items (NFIs) and FIs. Draft routine correspondence and reports. Act as interpreter and translator when needed. Perform other related duties as required. Authority (decisions made in executing responsibilities and to achieve results) Refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as necessary.

2.4 ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

•Completion of the Secondary Education with post-secondary training/certificate in Social science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related fields.
•Minimum 5 years of previous relevant job experience.
•Good computer skills in all desktop applications, particularly with respect to data management competencies.
•Excellent knowledge of English and local language.
•(In offices where the UN working language is not English, excellent knowledge of UN working language of the duty station is required).

2.5 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES.

•Good knowledge of ProGres (UNHCR database for registration of refugees, returnees and displaced persons).
•Previous experience in UN/UNHCR.
•Experience in managing programme related standards and indicators.
•Training on data analysis particularly in using registration data such as in ProGres.
•Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to functions of the position.
•Knowledge of another relevant UN or local languages.
