PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As part of the WASH intervention, to safeguard and improve the public health of the affected population by:
promoting safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services;
ensuring appropriate community involvement in the design, delivery and maintenance of essential WASH services and facilities
MAJOR TASKS
Collect data during needs assessments, baseline studies, and regular monitoring activities, and help feed back findings to stakeholders (including beneficiaries).
Help identify needs for non-food items relevant to hygiene, participate in the choice of items, targeting strategy, promotion of effective use, and post-distribution monitoring. Consider a longer term strategy for access to key hygiene promotion items ie. Soap.
Conduct weekly planning meetings with World Vision WASH and education field staff to ensure integration and best use of resources.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports of activities, field expenditures, and WASH conditions.
Facilitate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities.
Promote safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.
Mobilise communities to increase ownership and maintenance of WASH facilities such as the creation and support of WASH/ hygiene committees, organising monthly community clean up days and water container cleaning sessions etc.
Ensure a confidential feedback mechanism is in place to facilitate the accountability of World Vision for WASH programme quality.
Train, and manage hygiene promotion volunteers; Community Mobilisers, child to child teams and other hygiene outreach workers.
Carry out Hygiene Promotion activities in line with relevant standards, codes of conduct, and humanitarian principles.
Develop Hygiene Promotion activities and resources so that they are implemented and handed over or ended in a way that promotes local capacities and sustainable operations.
Identify and assess public hygiene risks and needs.
Report areas of concern to the WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) Coordinator
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Good understanding of World Vision and Lebanon WASH Sector Standards.
Good management and administrative skills.

Relevant Experience in relief project implementation
1-2 years experience in local community and within an NGO context.
