For Lebanon (based in Zahle), with movement to the Bekaa area.
For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.
MdM currently works in 46 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES :
Main objective:
Under the supervision of the Logistic officer, he/she is in charge of driving MdM vehicles according to MdM procedures.
Main activities:
Driving MdM vehicles
Passenger safety and security of transported materials/equipments
Maintenance of the vehicle
Carrying out logistic activities under supervision of the logistic manager and security focal point.
Remaining stand-by in the office in between movements
Any other additional duties requested by his/her supervisor

Adapting his/her behavior and driving to assure passengers' security, MDM equipment and the rest of road/street users (drivers, pedestrians, etc.).
Always drive according to the Lebanon circulation code and respecting speed limits
Always wearing safety belt while driving and ensuring all passengers do the same
Ensuring having a valid driving license and always have it ready for any eventual inspection
Ensuring that all necessary documents are valid and renewed before the expiration date (insurance of the car, maps of Lebanon, workmen compensation, list of hospital, discharge of liability, first aid kits, etc).
Maintenance of the vehicle
Checking on a regular basis the vehicle's motor, oil level, breaks liquid, air pressure of wheels, wind shield liquid, etc.
Alerting direct supervisor in case of technical problem or need for maintenance
Organizing or if possible carrying out of any necessary maintenance after validation of direct supervisor
Ensuring the vehicle is clean on the inside and outside
Ensuring all necessary equipment and material is present in the vehicle and in good condition (tools, spare wheel, airlift, belts, ropes, etc.)
Refilling the fuel tank each time the tank is at ¼ of its capacity and in full each Friday night.
Fill the log book.
Other duties/responsibilities:
Participate in internal work meetings and inform MdM team on log issues.
Report any security related issues to the security focal point.
Supporting operational organization of field trips and MdM programs/activities
Supporting at the warehouse when required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Starting: 1st JUNE 2016
Contract: Employee – Fixed term contract
Duration: 7 months up till 31th of December 2016.
Full time
Salary: according to MDM salary scale
You will be travelling throughout the Bekaa area where MDM has outreach activities; however, you will be requested to come to Beirut main office twice a week (Monday and Friday). Flexibility is then compulsory.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
High school degree.
Minimum 2 years of previous job experience relevant to the function
Possess a valid driver’s license
Have a good knowledge of driving rules and regulations
Skills in minor vehicle repair desirable
Perform functions in the most efficient manner, while remaining courteous and respecting principles of confidentiality;
Respect all local traffic rules and regulations;
Drive the vehicle only when his safety or security is not at risk;
Decline to drive passengers not authorized to be in a MDM vehicle.
Languages:
Arabic: Essential.
English and/or French : Basic - Desirable, but not essential
