Psychosocial Counsellor

JOB DESCRIPTION   Job Title:                    Psychosocial Counsellor Location:                      Bekaa (Rashaya Caza)     Background:  With the support and supervision of the Project Manager, Protection Officer and the PM Assistant, the Psychosocial Counselor is responsible for the day to day psychological support of the beneficiaries as well as providing specialized counseling support to Child Protection and SGBV cases.   Specific duties and responsibilities:  Woman Safe Space (WSS):  -       Provide individual or group psychological support such as counseling and support groups to the women attending the WSS -       If needed refer beneficiaries for case management to the case worker; -       Support/give training to WSS staff on how to identify signs of possible abuse affecting the beneficiaries at the center and encountered through outreach and awareness raising activities -       Support/give training to other local actors and community members on the identification and referral of CP and SGBV cases and principles on working with children and survivors. -       Provide support to the community mobilizers on how to address sensitive issues in the community -       Provide support to the community mobilizers regarding the PSS component of activities at the community level. -       Provide support to the social worker regarding the psychosocial component of activities at the WSS -       Participate in staff meetings as required;   Case Management:  -       Provide a clinical psychological assessment on selected cases referred by the case workers -       Provide psychological support to cases referred by the case workers in line with case plan objectives -       Closely monitor and document the psychological recovery of cases referred by the case workers. -       If needed accompany the case workers during the home visits; -       Based on the need support the protection officer in providing debriefing and self-care support to case workers. -       Participate in case management meetings as required.   Reporting:  -       Produce and maintain accurate clinical records of the beneficiaries. -       Write technical reports on specific cases identified during the individual psychological support sessions. -       Case files and technical reports must be archived in locked and secure location; access to them should be restricted only to relevant, authorized protection program staff. -       Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of the planned individual and group psychological support intervention programs on the beneficiaries. -       Write weekly and monthly report for the project manager;   Meeting:  -       Be available to participate in meetings at the WFS in Rachaya and in Tyre INTERSOS Office. -       Meet with other program staff as required. -       Take part in any other activities as requested by the supervisor.    Required qualifications and competencies:  -       The qualified candidate must be a recognized psychologist;   -       3+ year experience working in a similar position; -       Strong experience working with vulnerable people including survivors of SGBV and victims of child abuse -       Strong knowledge of Child Friendly interview techniques and communicating with children -       Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support In Emergency Settings; -       Familiarity with CP Minimum Standards in Emergency; -       Strong organizational and supervisory skills with excellent reporting & writing skills; -       Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills; -       An excellent command of verbal and written English; -       Good knowledge word and excel; -       Driving license holder;    The counselor should have a compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental personality. The counselor should be a person who keeps sensitive information to him- or herself.  Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the INTERSOS officers in Tyre.  A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.   He/she knows INTERSOS Chart of Values, Code of Ethics and Child Protection Policy.
